OUR Thoughts on Aramoana on the Beach, Titikaveka District, South Coast, Rarotonga
An amazing, new property on the quiet south coast of Rarotonga.  Aramoana on the beach is a single level beach house with 3 beautiful bedrooms and lovely open-plan living spaces.  As its name suggests, it is located right on the beach, but with the additional feature of being on a raised area of land around 3 or 4 metres above the sand which results in there being spectacular views from the bedrooms and the living area.  The view from the 2 ocean view bedrooms which open on to the lounge is through the lounge area and the view from the Lagoon Front master bedroom on the front of the house is breathtaking.  The beach is accessed down a staircase with approximately 20 steps and what a beach it is – powder-white sand and a sparkling lagoon marine reserve out front.

The house has wide decking which wraps around two sides – one side faces the lagoon and the ocean and is furnished with outdoor lounge settings and sun loungers and the other, the Garden deck  is side-on to the view and contains an 8 place dining set and your private BBQ with plenty of space left over.

Although Aramoana is a stand-alone holiday home and not part of a resort, you still get great service from the owner/operator when staying here.  Housekeeping, which is included in the rates, is provided every 3 days. Staff live close by and can respond quickly to any requests for extra sheets etc. The house is fully set up with towels when you arrive, and additional beach and bath towels are provided in the bathrooms for guests to use as they see fit.

While it is probably a good idea to have a rental car for at least a portion of your stay for ease of access to all the features of Rarotonga, but it is by no means compulsory, as, if you feel like walking, there are several food outlets in the form of Wigmore’s Supermarket, a beaut café and a couple of restaurants well within walking distance.  Wigmore’s Waterfall is another pleasant walk from Aramoana and the natural gardens surrounding the waterfall walk are lovely. It is also possible to do a cross-island trek from this area, but you’ll need a guide as the climb can be quite arduous in places and the crossing takes three to four hours.

There is something really special about a stay at Aramoana on the beach – arriving here you immediately feel immersed in the wonderfully laid-back Cook Islands lifestyle (not to forget the kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddle boarding available at Aramoana), while enjoying all the comforts of a modern beach home and that amazing view.

"Aramoana on the beach is a brand new property situated on the southern side of Rarotonga in the Titikaveka district, just in front of the lovely Avaavaroa Marine Reserve an offering and exclusive dream holiday overlooking at absolute beachfront view of Avaavaroa Lagoon and Pacific Ocean.

The property is elevated to provide an amazing view of the waterfront and ocean in the distance and has a selection of 3 bedrooms which includes 1 lagoon front master bedroom and 2 ocean view rooms, accommodating up to 6 guests. 

This property offers a fully equipped home away from home kitchen with an oven, stove, microwave, toaster, blender, rice cooker, breakfast bar, six seated dining table, outdoor BBQ with another 6 seated dining tale and service bar into the kitchen, wide selection of crockery, pots and utensils for easy cooking. In addition, a large beachfront deck area with outside lounges, laundry room with washer, dryer, sink and iron, as well as a guest toilet room for convenience. The bonus feature is the staircase to the beach, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkelling gear with private beach access to the front of the property for swimming, have fun and relax.

Within a 5-20 minute walk away is a supermarket (Wigmores), petrol station, fast food takeaways serving hot food (Food Box), 2 restaurants (Yellow Hibiscus or Vaima Restaurant), an amazingly popular café with great coffee and selection of food (Coco Latte).

Accommodation Arrangements
The modern single-level beach house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus a third toilet with hand basin. The Main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, toilet and double vanity.  The second and third bedrooms access a huge bathroom with an internal double vanity and toilet, then opens out to a beautiful private open-air courtyard with an open-to-the-sky shower.

General note regarding a holiday home stay.
Holiday homes are a very welcome addition to the accommodation options available on Rarotonga.  Obviously, individual holiday homes offer widely differing standards and specifications as to what is included and the services which are available to guests taking this accommodation option. As a general rule, a holiday home is a private citizen’s private residence or holiday place and, unlike a stay at a resort, a manager or owner may not be available on-site. However, the owner (or an agent of the owner) may be available to sort out any problems or maintenance issues encountered (and visits by neighbours’ dogs and chickens!!) It is sensible to maintain a reasonable level of security and to keep up a personal insect repellent program. Through understanding what this accommodation style entails, a really enjoyable holiday can be had in a holiday home in Rarotonga. 

Getting to and from and around Aramoana on the beach
Aramoana on the beach is an ideal location to enjoy a rental car for at least a portion of your stay and we have some very good rental car rates we can use in association with this property.  Options include vehicles with 5 and 6 seats, but, for smaller party, we’d recommend a Mini Cooper Convertible – great fun, and an ideal car for a Rarotonga holiday.

Of course, the circle island buses pass by every hour heading both clock-wise and anti-clock-wise to and from Avarua, Arorangi and Muri. Being located approximately half way around the island means it doesn’t really matter which bus you take to get to and from Avarua town.

Electric Bicycles now available for hire in Rarotonga
Electric Bicycles are available to hire via Our Specialists.  Rarotonga is ideal for battery-powered bicycles and we can pre-book these for you.  With pedal assistance, e-bicycles will go twice around the island on a single charge and batteries may be recharged using a standard power plug. Try something new in this friendly environment, after all, isn’t that what holidays are for!

Due to the decks above the beach being unfenced, this property restricts children as guests to those aged 7 years and over.
