Our Thoughts on Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel
There is something very appealing about the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel. The 17 room Hotel rates itself 3.5 stars and that’s probably because they lack a swimming pool, a lift and marble bathrooms, but, somehow, when you stay there, the feeling is one of utter enjoyment, contentment and comfort that you might normally expect to find at a higher rated property.
Unless you have already experienced it, it is hard to explain how great it feels to wake up to the morning hush of the beach and the palm-fringed lagoon right outside your door or balcony. On Rarotonga’s south coast, the lagoon really does teem with marine life, the water is clear and you really can spend hours relaxing on the beach and dipping in and out of the lagoon for a spot of swimming, snorkelling or kayaking. (Snorkel gear is free for guests’ use).
There are plenty of beach sun-loungers lined up each morning, but they don’t stay in line for long, because the friendly atmosphere at Moana Sands soon has guests chatting, mixing, swapping Rarotonga experiences and enjoying each other’s company. The intimate The Sands Restaurant & Bar (open for breakfast and dinner) and the guest-use BBQ provides more opportunities for guests to get to know each other if they wish. Tropical fruit breakfast is included in the tariff.
A local supermarket is a 5 minute drive away.

Your Accommodation Options
Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel offers two options; either Beachfront Studios or Deluxe Beachfront Studios. The Hotel is a three storey block with 6 Beachfront Studios on each of the ground and first floor, and five Deluxe Beachfront Studios on the second floor. Each room has a private balcony or patio. All rooms are air-conditioned and are fully serviced 6 days a week (no service on Sundays or public holidays). All rooms have LCD TV’s with Sky Pacific & all rooms are non-smoking.

As you enter the room, you pass through a small kitchenette which consists of a refrigerator, microwave, jug, toaster and electric frying pan. All rooms have tiled floors, cane furniture and tropical décor. There is a table and 2 chairs in the open living/sleeping area.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 King or 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: 1 Single Rollaway Bed
Deluxe Beachfront Studios
Bigger rooms with raked ceilings providing a feeling of even more space. All rooms have tiled floors, cane furniture and tropical décor. The table and chair set is in the kitchenette area. There is a DVD player included with the LCD TV.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 King or 2 Single Beds
Getting to and from Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel
We will provide a coach or private car arrival/departure transfer from/to Rarotonga International Airport to Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel.
Kids Policy
For travel until 31 Mar 2012 - Children aged 12 years and under have special rate.
For travel from 01 Apr 2012 - Children aged 12 years and under stay free!
Check-in/Check Out
The hotel will make every effort to ensure your rooms are available at your time of check-in; however, the Hotel standard times and rates are as follows:
Check In Time: 12.00pm
Check Out Time: 10.00am
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing.
If cancellations are effected between 30 - 15 days of scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee equal to one night’s accommodation will be levied.
If cancellations are effected between 14 - 8 days of scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee equal to two night’s accommodation will be levied.
If cancellations are effected within 7 days of scheduled arrival including no shows, a cancellation fee equal to 100% of total stay will be levied.
