OUR Thoughts on Moana Sands Lagoon Resort, Muri Beach, Rarotonga
Moana Sands Lagoon Resort is located at Muri Beach a short 2 km (3-minute drive) away from Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel. And a 6km (10 min) drive from the Moana Sands Beachfront Villas & Apartments. There are 22 Studio rooms with 11 located on the ground floor and 11 located upstairs including 2 disabled access rooms. The 4 Studios furthest away from the Lagoon on each level, are the Garden Studios. The Beach Suite is located on the Ground Floor, the Lagoon Suite is located upstairs. All rooms offer open-plan living with a kitchenette, lounge/dining facility, bedding and a separate bathroom. Please note, the onsite Restaurant at Moana Sands Lagoon Resort allows diners from 12 years and up.
The 3 Moana Sands Group properties are spread out approximately 7kms along Rarotonga’s south and east coasts. The two furthest apart Moana Sands properties are Moana Sands Beachfront Villas & Apartments in Vaimaanga Village on Rarotonga’s south coast and the new Moana Sands Lagoon Resort on Muri Beach. Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, which has a splendid beachfront location right on Titikaveka Beach, is approximately mid-way between these two. Each property has unique features; Our Specialists know them all very well and can assist you to make the right decision as to which one to choose for your perfect Rarotonga holiday.

Deluxe Lagoon Studio rooms are located in the two storey resort complex, situated on the ground and first floor, allowing direct access to lagoon. Our lagoon facing studios are ideal for couples seeking a romantic escape, each tastefully decorated with a modern Polynesian flare.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 guests
Existing Bedding: A King Bed which may be split into 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated
Deluxe Garden Studios:
Deluxe Garden Studio rooms are located in the two storey Moana Sands Lagoon Resort complex, situated on the ground and first floor, in close proximity to reception and restaurant. All rooms face out onto gardens and pool area.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 guests
Existing Bedding: A King Bed which may be split into 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated
Lagoon Suites:
Styled with a modern and contemporary Polynesian influence, the Lagoon Suite offers uninterrupted views over majestic Muri lagoon, located on the 1st floor of our modern two-story complex.

Beach Suites:
Styled with a modern and contemporary Polynesian influence, the Beach Suite at Moana Sands Lagoon Resort offers uninterrupted views across majestic Muri lagoon. This Suite is located on the ground floor of the modern two-story complex.

Getting to and from Moana Sands Lagoon Resort
● In conjunction with Moana Sands Villas and Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, Moana Sands Lagoon Resort operates an independent Airport Transfer services for all International and Domestic airline services. The vehicle is air-conditioned and arriving guests receive a chilled bottle of water to help them on their way. The cost of these transfers will be included in package arrangements made by us.
● The Round Island Bus anti-clockwise schedule departs Moana Sands Lagoon Resort on the hour and takes 15/20 minutes to reach Cooks Corner in Avarua Town. On the return journey, the clockwise service departs Avarua Town on the hour and also takes 15/20 minutes to reach Moana Sands Lagoon Resort. It takes 40 minutes on the bus if you take the long-way around in either direction.
● For guests who have not pre-arranged rental car, scooter-hire bookings through us, staff at Moana Sands Lagoon Resort are happy to make vehicle reservations, but, of course, this is subject to availability of vehicles at the time.

Early Arriving Flights
Several flights each week from Auckland arrive at Rarotonga between midnight and 2:00am. We recommend that all guests arriving prior to 6:00am should book and pay for their room from the night before to guarantee access to their room at the time they arrive. Not doing this could result in a wait of around 12 hours to gain entry to your accommodation.
