The main building, which is home to the restaurant, bar, lounge and boutique, is also located over water with wonderful views on the enchanting lagoon.

Complimentary activities include scheduled boat transfers to and from the main town of Fare, snorkeling, kayak and outrigger canoe paddling, table tennis, beach volley and local cultural activities.

Other activities are: botanical garden and vanilla plantation visits, picnic and circle island tour by canoe, horseback riding, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, car, scooter, motorboat and bicycle rentals. The hotel supports an environmental and local communities protection program (Fees Go Green).”

Our Thoughts on Hotel Royal Huahine
There is something very pleasantly unique about this property which is quite difficult to explain.  Huahine is a great place to visit; the lifestyle here is laid-back and the local people come across as genuinely welcoming of visitors.  Huahine is really 2 islands – Huahine Nui, where Hotel Royal Huahine is located and Huahine Iti.  The islands are joined by a bridge.  Both are “high islands” with a hilly interior and many inlets.  The major feature of Huahine is the amazing lagoon which circles both islands.  Off the western and southern coasts the lagoon is very deep just off shore and becomes shallow approximately 1½ kilometres out to sea on the outer reef.  The changes in depth result in the most brilliant contrasts in the colour of the lagoon waters. Hotel Royal Huahine is located half way down the western coast of Huahine on the centre of this amazing lagoon.  Fare, which is the commercial centre of Huahine and the home of a selection of shops and cafés which are quite interesting to visit, lies at the northern end of this lagoon.  Huahine’s airport is further away on the northern coast and arriving guests are driven to Fare where they join a boat trip down the lagoon to Hotel Royal Huahine. A regular complimentary Resort Shuttle boat service runs throughout the day and into the night between Hotel Royal Huahine and Fare.

Hotel Royal Huahine provides a very interesting balance of land and water-based facilities.  The arrival wharf, Reception, main restaurant, lounge and Boutique shop are built well out over the lagoon and accessed via a pier off the land.  At the land end of the pier the beach is backed by the resort swimming pool and the Beach Bar and Luncheon Restaurant.  A perfect white-sand beach, on which the Beach Bungalows are located, runs along the front of the resort. The Garden Bungalows occupy the wide garden space behind the Beach Bungalows.  At the other end of the beach another pier runs out into the lagoon and branches out to provide access to the Lagoon Bungalows and the Deep Overwater Bungalows.  The 2 piers frame the whole resort beautifully and there is a swimming pontoon in the centre of the lagoon between the two piers. Having the central facility of the resort over the water provides an over-water experience for all guests irrespective of whether they are staying in a land-based or an overwater bungalow.

Hotel Royal Huahine is rated 4 Star and, in our opinion, this fairly rates the property.  You don’t find 5 star luxury here, but you will find a very pleasant resort with a top range of facilities and unpretentious quality. It absolutely fits with the Huahine experience which you won’t find anywhere else in French Polynesia. If your idea of a holiday is to enjoy as much of a destination as you can comfortably manage, we recommend you seriously consider Hotel Royal Huahine as a very enjoyable add-on to a holiday on Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora.  There are good flight connections between these islands and Huahine is a very worthwhile addition.  Of course, Huahine is also a great single destination holiday too.

Your Accommodation Options
All accommodation types at Hotel Royal Huahine have the same basic layout, the position of each in the resort grounds, beach and lagoon provide the differential in prices.  All are air-conditioned and spacious.  Garden Bungalows are located behind the Beach Bungalows throughout the resort gardens while Beach Bungalows are right on the beautiful white-sand beach. Both these types are handily located to the restaurants, bars, swimming pool, Manea Spa and Reception area.  The Lagoon Bungalows and the Deep Overwater Bungalows are on the western boundary of the resort a little further away from the central buildings which provide guests with a superb holiday environment right on and over the waters of the lagoon.

All bungalows are built in the traditional Polynesian style in wood and bamboo with thatch-style roof and high internal ceilings and are not as dark as some very traditional bungalows found in French Polynesian resorts. While being open-plan in style, the bed does not occupy the commanding position in the room leaving plenty of space for a 3-seater couch, 2 comfy lounge chairs and a coffee table.

 Garden Bungalows:
50 square metres.
Garden Bungalows are air-conditioned as well as having a ceiling fan and flow-through ventilation. These bungalows are spacious and have a big, furnished deck out front with a partial roof. Garden Bungalows are scattered through the gardens and all have a pleasant lawn/garden/palm tree outlook – some have a glimpse of the -lagoon. 
The bathroom is a good size and has a shower – no bath.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults and 1 Child or 2 Adults and 2 Children aged under 15 years.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which can be split into 2 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: Up to 2 Single Beds can be added.

 Lagoon Bungalows:
50 square metres, air-conditioned and ceiling fan.
A very good option for a couple or family seeking the overwater experience without paying a premium price.  There are only 5 Lagoon Bungalows located at the land entry to the boardwalk which leads to the Deep Overwater Bungalows.  Three of the Lagoon Bungalows are built out over the beach and the lagoon but their entrance is directly off the land. The other 2 Lagoon Bungalows are accessed over short boardwalks off the main boardwalk.  Bathroom has both shower and bath.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults and 1 Child or 2 Adults and 2 Children aged under 15 years.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which can be split into 2 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: Up to 2 Single Beds can be added.

 Beach Bungalows:
50 Square Metres, air-conditioned and ceiling fan.
Beach Bungalows are similar in layout to the Garden Bungalows in an excellent position right on the beachfront with only a small patch of lawn between the veranda and the beach itself.  Beach Bungalows are right in the centre of the resort, handy to the restaurants and swimming pool and with a great view out over the lagoon.  Bathroom has a full shower – no bath.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults and 1 Child or 2 Adults and 2 Children aged under 15 years.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which can be split into 2 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: Up to 2 Single Beds can be added.

 Deep Overwater Bungalows:
50 square metres, air-conditioned and ceiling fan.
Located in a crescent-shaped row at the end of the boardwalks which branch off the central access pier, each Deep Overwater Bungalow is so placed that guests have privacy as well as superb views out over the lagoon.  There is a sizeable partially covered deck off the bungalow which is furnished with a corner day bed as well as sun-loungers etc.  A second smaller deck just above the lagoon with a ladder down to the water to provides easy access to the lagoon. At night, turn the light on under your bungalow and watch the fish feeding. The bathroom has a full shower and separate bath.

Getting To and From Hotel Royal Huahine
Air Tahiti services Huahine from Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea and Raiatea by modern jet-prop aircraft.  Direct flights between Tahiti and Huahine take 40 minutes. 

The experience of getting from the Huahine Airport to Hotel Royal Huahine provides a perfect way to get into “Huahine mode” – a short 15 minute road trip from the airport to the little town of Fare, then a boat ride on the calm lagoon to Hotel Royal Huahine. For something ultra romantic you may wish to splurge a little on a deluxe service including champagne.

Even though it’s on the mainland, Hotel Royal Huahine has no direct access by road for guests so The Resort runs a regular Shuttle Boat to and from Fare on the following schedule.

Just along the coast from the Overwater Bungalows there is a lovely little beach (not part of the resort property) from which there is a track leading to a quiet road where it is possible to walk in almost total seclusion for several kilometres enjoying the natural beauty of this pretty island.

Cancellation Policy
 All cancellations must be made in writing
 For bookings held during the Low Season (01 April to 31 May and 01 November to 31 March):-
 Cancellations received at The Resort within 6 days of arrival date will incur a 1 night fee.
 For bookings held during the High Season (01 June to 31 October):-
 Cancellations received at The Resort within 14 days of arrival date will incur a 2 nights fee.
 No shows will be charged 100% of the cost of reservations held.
 Guests departing prior to the booked departure date will be charged 100% of the cost of remaining nights booked but not utilised.
