OUR Thoughts on Maitai Lapita Village, Fare, Huahine, French Polynesia
This little resort is well established with its superb setting, lovely, spacious, modern Bungalows, excellent little restaurant, great bar and caring staff it epitomises everything that Huahine has to offer. Huahine offers travellers something quite different when compared with Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora.  The whole island is more laid-back in a Polynesian way (but still with the French influence of course).  It’s quite hard to put your finger on it, but a stay on Huahine is charmingly different.  Maitai Lapita Village is a perfect place from which to begin to understand and enjoy this difference. 

It has a perfect beach and a beautiful horizon pool and what we find appealing is the fact that the beach is free of bungalows encroaching on to it.  Most of the bungalows are beautifully arranged around a small lake which lies at a right angle to the beach and the rest of the bungalows are located one row back from the lake. The lake is home to waterlily gardens and the garden vegetation runs right down to the lakeside resulting in a superbly relaxing setting.

Adding to the enjoyment of a stay here is the close proximity of Fare Town which can be easily accessed by a 10-minute walk either down the beach or along the island road.  Fare is a beaut little town with a really good supermarket, a few interesting shops and cafés and one or two really good restaurants.  In the typically French Polynesian-style the supermarket has a wide range of prepared hot and cold foods to purchase.  Similar to the waterfront in Papeete, the waterfront at Fare also sports a few roulottes – takeaway food vans serving all sorts of cheap eats. Add all this to the very good restaurant at your hotel and you have a formula for a terrific holiday experience.

Maitai Lapita Village is a perfect base from which to enjoy all of Huahine and it’s hard to think of a better place for a perfect singles, couples, family or honeymoon holiday. Don’t make the mistake of making your stay too short.  Apart from being a perfect place to relax and enjoy the wonderful surroundings and the French/Polynesian culture, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy; here is a short list:-

Your Accommodation Options
The 32 Bungalows which make up the total accommodation at Maitai Lapita Village, are offered in 4 different categories.  You notice, from the moment you step inside how spacious they are with their big open-plan area, high, lofted ceiling and sizeable terrace for outdoor living.  The choice is between bungalows surrounded by gardens or those on the lakeside.  All lakeside bungalows have an extensive terrace deck out over the lake. The 2 standard Garden Bungalows and 10 Garden Bungalows with Pool are built 2 to a building (duplex) and are very good for singles and couples.  Several of the duplex buildings offer interconnecting doors between 2 units and these are a perfect option for a family. The Premium Bungalows are all stand-alone buildings. The 5 Premium Garden Bungalows with Pool are an excellent choice for people seeking privacy.  The 15 Premium Lake Bungalows are all built around a small lake in the centre of the property and their decks, while you might expect them to be less private because they all face onto the lake, are naturally screened by the lush lakeside tropical vegetation. The idyllic calm of the lake around and under the deck and the view of the other bungalows further down the lake provides an exceptionally relaxing environment, especially in the early morning and at sunset.

All accommodation has a modern/traditional feel. Darker floors contrast nicely with light-coloured walls and each is tastefully decorated with articles reflecting the Lapita history of the site.  All accommodation is air-conditioned, the big veranda/patios are partially covered and fully furnished for relaxation and the bathrooms are modern and spacious.  In the Premium Bungalows, the nice big flat-screen TV is cunningly hidden in a table at the end of the bed and only pops up when needed. It can be turned to either face the bed or the lounge area. There is a more conventional TV arrangement in the standard Garden Bungalows

Getting To and From Maitai Lapita Village
Huahine airport transfers as required will be provided by the hotel and included in our package cost.
Maitai Lapita Village is a 10 minute walk along the beach from Fare, Huahine’s main town.  A bicycle (available for hire) is a great way to get around Huahine and a car rental facility is handily located to the resort.

The Hotel standard check-in and check-out times are as follows:
Check In Time: 2:00pm
Check Out Time: 11:00am
Early Check-in and Late Check-out
For guaranteed check-in prior to 2:00pm payment for the previous night is required
Late check-out to 6:00pm is charged at 50% of the nightly accommodation rate booked.
Late check-out after 6:00pm is charged at the full extra night room rate.
For early arrivals and late departures outside standard check-in and check-out times the hotel provides its guests with public changing rooms which are equipped with a shower
