OUR Thoughts on Honua Kai Resort & Spa, 130 Kai Malina Parkway, North Kaanapali Beach, Maui
What an incredible resort!  Firstly, let’s discuss the location.  North Kaanapali Beach has come into its own over the past few years; previous to the building of 639 luxury Condo Units at Honua Kai and the recent completion of the Westin Nanea complex next door, it seemed to us that North Kaanapali always played second fiddle to the main Kaanapali Beach on the other side of Black Rock.  Not anymore!  A stay at Honua Kai gives you everything you need for a fabulous Kaanapali holiday – a spacious luxury condo unit with a full kitchen, a beachfront position, a shopping Centre with supermarket (including a great wine department) well within walking distance and a terrific number of resort facilities and services to cater for your every holiday need in the form of Dukes Beach House restaurant, a gourmet market, a spa, gym, general store and any number of pools, hot tubs, guest BBQs, etc.  Honoapiilani Park is an open space to the north and golf courses are found nearby to the south.

The North Kaanapali Beach Boardwalk will take you along the coast to the main Kaanapali Beach and Whalers Village, but such are the facilities and feeling of community surrounding Honua Kai that you will not find it necessary to take the walk south more than once or twice on your holiday.

Now, the rooms.  Every condo apartment is huge, yes, even the open-plan studios.  All are tastefully furnished and all have a full kitchen with a decent-sized fridge and all the kitchen appliances etc that anyone would need.  1 Bedroom, 2 Bedroom and 3 Bedroom units have a full bathroom for every bedroom, a spacious living/dining/kitchen and a great balcony.  As is the case with most condo buildings in Hawaii, all units are individually owned, so each differs a little in décor and furnishing and that seems to add a pleasing dimension to the whole experience of a stay at Honua Kai.

Daily Resort Charge.
A mandatory Daily Resort Charge of US$35.00 plus tax per unit per night is collected from guests direct by the resort.  The Resort Charge covers the following services:
● Self-parking
● Use of in-suite safe
● High-speed internet
● In-suite starter kit
● Use of Resort Fitness Room
● Access to the Aloha Lounge 10:00am to 8:00pm
     (for guests arriving before their unit is ready
      and for those guests departing late).

Minimum Stay Requirements.
A minimum 3 nights stay is required for stays including:
     29 October to 02 November
     14 through 18 February in all accommodation types
as well as year-round stays in all Royal Collection
and Unit Choice Suites.
A minimum 5 nights stay is required for stays including:
     24 December through 02 January in all
     accommodation types.
Apart from the specific periods noted above, here is no minimum stay requirements for stays year-round in non-Royal Collection and Unit Choice Suites.

Mid-stay housekeeping service is provided.  Additional housekeeping service is available at additional charge.

Note re smoking policy:
All rooms are non-smoking and a fee will be accessed upon penalty.  Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.

Note re Compulsory Check-out Cleaning Fee
Honua Kai does not charge a check-out cleaning fee.

Your Accommodation Options
Spread over two adjacent “U” shaped tower complexes (the Konea and the Hokulani), each enfolds a large area of lawn and opens out to multiple pools, patios and water features which, in turn, merges with the coastal lawn and the Kaanapali Beach Beach Walk which runs along the beach frontage.  Every unit is a fully furnished condo with a full-size kitchen, dining setting and offers a laundry alcove featuring a washer and a dryer and a balcony.  Everything about the condos at Honua Kai is “big and comfortable”.  The units themselves are huge, the furniture is big, the beds are big as are the bathrooms etc.  Condos are individually owned, so furnishings, colour schemes, unit sizes etc will vary from unit to unit.

Honua Kai features open-plan studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom condo units and every bedroom has a bathroom – (1 bedroom units have 1 bathroom, 2 bedroom units have 2 bathrooms and so on). The Royal Collection Suites are simply magnificent.

 The units have been given descriptive names which show their individual locations in the 2 resort complexes. 
Bullet Resort View” rooms will be on lower floors with an outlook towards the gardens, lawns and open-air car parks
Bullet Partial Ocean View” will be located a little higher in the building and have a side-aspect view from the balcony over the surrounding tropical trees to the ocean beyond.
Bullet Ocean View” are either higher up or, if on mid or lower floors, give guests an excellent view of the ocean.
Bullet Property Development View” describes a position overlooking the low-rise two-level Garden Villas (which are now all but completed) on the land between the resort towers and the road behind. The so-called “property Development View” 1 Bedroom units are great value – enjoy a unit with a separate bedroom and living room at a price below the Studio Units.

Royal Collection Suites
2 Bedroom and 3 Bedroom Suites with amazing space, huge balconies and wide, sweeping views of the ocean.  The best of the best at Honua Kai.

Getting to and from Honua Kai Resort & Spa
The closest airport to Honua Kai is Maui’s Kapalua Airport, which is some 8km away and serviced by jet-prop aircraft from Honolulu.  The main Maui airport is on the opposite side of Maui Island and this airport is serviced by jet aircraft from most Hawaiian Islands including Honolulu.  No matter which airport you arrive at/depart from, we will include return airport transfers in your package arrangements as agreed/required.

If you haven’t included a rental car in your package arrangements for at least a part of your stay, Budget and Alamo Rentals are both within walking distance of this resort.

A local shopping centre, The Honokowai Marketplace (a compact shopping centre which includes the Times Supermarket) is within easy walking distance of Honua Kai.  In addition, there is a Whalers General Store immediately outside one of the resort complex wings.  Whalers Village itself is a pleasant 2.5km walk via Black Rock either along the beach or along the road.
 
Kids Policy

Official check-in and checkout times are:
Check-in: 4:00pm
Check-out: 11:00am
Early Check-in and Late Check-out
To guarantee immediate access to rooms when arriving prior to 4:00pm, accommodation should be booked and paid for the night prior to arrival.
To guarantee a late check-out accommodation should be reserved for an additional night.
Aloha Lounge
As part of the mandatory Daily Resort Charge, guests arriving prior to official check-in time and/or departing after official check-out time are entitled to access the wonderful “Aloha Lounge” which is open 10:00am to 8:0pm daily.  The Aloha Lounge provides indoor and outdoor seating, areas, pool/beach towels and a kids’ play area with complimentary snacks.

Resort Cancellation Policy
