ALA MOANA HOTEL
410 Atkinson Drive, Ala Moana, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
What the Resort Says About Itself
"Presenting the Ala Moana Hotel, Honolulu’s landmark hotel. With a multi-million dollar transformation and a host of impressive amenities, it’s the new benchmark for experiencing paradise. This upscale hotel offers dining options, a nightclub, an expansive pool deck, fitness center, mini spa and extensive meeting facilities.
At the Ala Moana Hotel, you’ll discover that location is indeed everything. Centrally located in Honolulu’s Ala Moana district, the hotel is adjacent to the Ala Moana Center, the largest open-air mall in America. It’s across the street from Ala Moana Beach Park, just a short walk to the Victoria Ward Shopping Centers & Cineplex and near Waikiki. The hotel is also a few minutes drive from downtown Honolulu, the Neal Blaisdell Center and the Honolulu Academy of Arts and twenty minutes to Honolulu International Airport. It’s a mecca for shopping, dining and entertainment. And being next to the Pacific Ocean has its benefits, from a day riding the surf, sailing around Diamond Head or just relaxing on the beach."
Our thoughts on the Ala Moana Hotel
It’s a big, commercial-style hotel with 1100 rooms and suites in 2 towers attached to the giant Ala Moana Shopping Centre by a walkway off the second floor straight in to Macy’s and only steps from the huge international food court at Ala Moana Shopping Centre.
Apart from business people, convention delegates and people in transit through Oahu, since its extensive refurbishment, the hotel also appeals to vacationers too. Ala Moana Hotel rooms all provide a fridge and a microwave oven and that’s great for breakfasts and snacks in particular.
So why stay here on holiday? There are several features of this hotel and its location that make it an interesting alternative to consider. Firstly, as it is predominantly a business hotel it is a great spot for couples who may prefer a holiday without a lot of children around. Secondly, you are more likely to have the opportunity of rubbing shoulders with local people who love to congregate in the evenings and at weekends in Ala Moana Park and beach which is right across the road. Last but not least, Ala Moana is the commercial centre of Waikiki and the transport hub, not only for Waikiki but for the whole island of Oahu. You can virtually get to and from everywhere on Oahu from the Ala Moana Shopping Centre Transport Hub. The Waikiki Trolley Pink and Red Lines pass through here at least once every 10 minutes and it costs US$2.00 a ride to Waikiki or Downtown Honolulu on the Trolley. It is handy to Pearl Harbour, The Aloha Tower shopping centre and cruise terminal as well as the airport. It goes without saying that it’s a great location for shopping.
