*TROPICAL ISLAND-STYLE PENSION*
VILLAGE TEMANUATA BEACH
Our Resort Report

OUR Thoughts on Village Temanuata Beach, Matira Point, Bora Bora, French Polynesia
This is true French Polynesian Pension living!  A small, family owned and run 2-star rated, traditional French Polynesian-style property right on a private beach in the heart of Matira Point on Bora Bora.  In true French Polynesian-style the roof of each bungalow is traditionally thatched with pandanus leaves (no long-run iron hidden beneath the thatch on these roofs) and every bungalow has a lovely little covered “terrace” or patio/veranda – either facing the beach or the lagoon or the pleasant tropical garden.  Even though the accommodation is ranged in two rows starting at the beach frontage and running back (almost to the road), no bungalows would be more than around 50 metres away from Village Temanuata's beautiful little private beach.

Walk out the front of Pension Temanuata Beach into a real “French Polynesian village” atmosphere of super friendly people, a nice little market right across the road, a pizza outlet right next door and a short walk to a range of road-side shops and eateries.  All bungalows at Village Temanuata are equipped with a microwave oven, so having a market nearby is quite handy for snacks and breakfast supplies. If you prefer, a continental breakfast may be included in your package arrangements, this is delivered daily to your bungalow terrace.

If you want a little more beach action, the famous Matira Public Beach is an easy 500 metre walk away and there you are surrounded by a range of beach-side facilities being enjoyed by Bora Bora locals and visitors from all over the world.

Bora Bora can be quite an expensive destination, so if you accept that at Village Temanuata there are few of the facilities offered by the big, 5-star international-brand resorts for which Bora Bora is famous, a stay at this property can be very rewarding, not only from a price point of view but more importantly, from the experience of the wonderful interaction guests can enjoy with the local family owner/operator. This property is a near neighbour of the InterContinental Le Moana Resort, so the location couldn’t be better.

There is a minimum 2 nights stay policy at this property.

What Pension Village Temanuata Beach Say About Themselves:
“On the beach of Matira Point.

This family-owned hotel, superbly located on the beach of "Pointe Matira" in the best tourist area of Bora Bora, will enhance you with its typical Polynesian charm.

The Village Temanuata offers 11 bungalows with direct access to a private beach.

The resort features 11 bungalows with modern conveniences such as ceiling-fans, private bathrooms, refrigerators, terraces, providing a secluded place to get away from it all.”

General note regarding standards and guest experiences at Pensions (also known as Guest Houses and Family Hotels).
The Pension-style of accommodation is well established in French Polynesia, following the line of similar properties in Europe (and France in particular) which have been enjoyed by travellers for many years.  There is no doubt that, for the right person, a stay in a Pension in French Polynesia can be a very rewarding experience.  Generally, members of the family offering the accommodation manage and work at the property and that adds something of a “local hospitality” feel to a stay.  Of course, standards vary from those experienced in international resorts and hotels, but the difference is reflected in the room tariffs.  What is not reflected in the room tariff is the personal service and the warm feelings of well-being that can be experienced from a stay in a Pension in French Polynesia.

Important Remarks
This establishment belongs to the official category of “guest houses & family hotels”. The classification of these lodges has been set in order to clearly differentiate them from the ”international hotels and residences” category, based on the following key elements: - A limited number of furnished units, generally located beside the family home - Facilities tailored to domestic standards, different from the international tourist hotels criteria - Restricted catering service - Limited number of professionally trained personnel - Reduced taxes While it is true that the level of comfort cannot be compared to that of an international hotel, the commitment to hospitality remains nevertheless professional. Focus will be directed on the client’s unique experience within an environment proper to the destination.

Your Accommodation Options
The 11 stand-alone bungalows are arranged in 2 rows, one row on each side of a small central garden through which runs a sand path to and from the beach.  The bungalows on the beach end of both rows are the Beach Bungalows.  Immediately behind the Beach Bungalows in both rows, the next bungalow back from the beach is designated a Lagoon View Bungalow. The 5 Garden Bungalows are next back from the beach in both rows and furthest away from the beach, the 2 Family Bungalows with Kitchenette complete one row, and Hotel Reception anchors the other row.

For a couple, we recommend you consider a Family Bungalow with Kitchenette, if you like a little more space and the cooking facility.  Should your budget stretch just a little, a stay in either a Beach Bungalow or a Lagoon View Bungalow is very rewarding and, in our opinion, well worth the added cost for the beach and water views.  Our Specialists are happy to provide prices for different grades of accommodation.
