BLUE LAGOON CRUISES

OUR thoughts on Blue Lagoon Cruises
Blue Lagoon Cruises have been providing memorable cruises in Fiji successfully for just on 70 years, so they are obviously doing something right!   Their ships are custom-built for cruising in Fiji waters and their current ship “Fiji Princess” has a fresh & nautical theme.  Blue Lagoon Cruises rate “Fiji Princess” as 4 Star and we agree, although we think 4 Star is a conservative rating (Blue Lagoon Cruises are constantly up-grading their product) – this is a marvellous little ship cruising to wonderful places and staffed by a great all local Fijian crew. “Fiji Princess” has only 32 cabins and carries a maximum of 64 passengers, so you never feel lost in the crowd.

Taking a Blue Lagoon Cruise as part of a Honeymoon in Fiji is a perfect way to celebrate a wedding.  Our Specialists can advise on Special Honeymoon Packages.  Or, how about considering a Wedding on a Blue Lagoon Cruise?  Bring your Wedding Guests with you and get married on the cruise ship.  Another popular option is to have the Wedding Ceremony on the picturesque white-sand beach at Blue Lagoon's Private Island at sunset.  Our Specialists can assist you to make this happen.

On 3 days cruises “Fiji Princess” departs Port Denarau and passengers return to Port Denarau on a private transfer using one of the company's large high speed catamaran from the Sacred Isles where “Fiji Princess” awaits the arrival of her 4 night cruise passengers.  The 4 night cruise passengers start their cruise on board the private transfer at Port Denarau, joining “Fiji Princess” at the Sacred Isles, cruising back to Port Denarau on “Fiji Princess at the conclusion of the cruise. Transit time between Port Denarau and the rendezvous point with “Fiji Princess” is approximately 75 minutes. Having the fast catamaran service between Port Denarau and the Sacred Isles is a huge benefit for passengers on 3 and 4 day cruises as it provides maximum time out in the beautiful Yasawa Islands. Passengers on the 7 night cruise spend the entire cruise on “Fiji Princess” Port Denarau to Port Denarau. (See individual itineraries below for full details).

Blue Lagoon Cruises are normally restricted to guests aged 14 years and over, however, facing a big demand from past guests, Blue Lagoon Cruises have added "Family Cruise" departure dates which generally coincide with Australasian School Holidays. See details under "Kids' Policy" below.

Do try to fit in a Blue Lagoon Cruise to your Fiji holiday itinerary. The inclusion of a Blue Lagoon Cruise, no matter whether it’s a short or longer duration cruise itinerary, adds a wonderful highlight to any holiday in Fiji.

Your Cruise Options:
Bullet Explorer - 3 Night Cruise:
Bullet Departs Port Denarau on Fridays,
returning to Port Denarau on Mondays.

Bullet Friday: Depart Port Denarau at 3:00pm on “Fiji Princess”. Check-in time at Port Denarau is 1:30pm. The first overnight anchorage is in a gorgeous, secluded location at Modriki Island. Scene of the Tom Hanks’ movie “Castaway”. Time for a swim, a cocktail or two and then enjoy The Captain’s Welcome Dinner on board.

Bullet Saturday:   Sea conditions permitting, there is a very special stop this morning where the brave will get to “swim with the sharks” at a secret reef location. Of course, they are only Reef Sharks but they still make for a great snorkel experience!  Cruise on to the waters around Naviti and into Soso Bay.
In the afternoon a visit to the chiefly village of Soso, one of the local schools that the “Vinaka Fiji Trust” assists with teacher aid programmes is on offer. Or you may prefer to head off snorkelling, diving (optional extra) or kayaking. Perhaps just lazing on the sun deck is more in order. Dinner is “Thali” buffet dinner tonight – featuring exquisite Indian dishes. Help yourself to the fancy dress box and put on your boogie shoes as it is “Bollywood Dancing” after dinner on the Upper Deck, complete with Bollywood movies on the big screen.

Bullet Sunday
:   Sunday in Fiji is very genuinely respected as a day of rest so cruisers usually follow suit. There is, however, a very special opportunity to attend a village church service. All in Fijian but still the atmosphere, the singing and the uniqueness of where you are will fix a place in your memories of Fiji. On board join the Chef for a Fijian cooking lesson. Help prepare, cook and enjoy some of the dishes being prepared for today’s lunch – grilled fish, root crops, Fijian spinach!
This afternoon is a relaxed afternoon with all the various water options on offer – swim, snorkel, head for the beach

Bullet Monday:
Start the day with an early morning snorkel, swim or kayak trip then breakfast while cruising to the stunning Sacred Isles for your last stop.  After lunch board the high-speed catamaran for your transfer back to Port Denarau.

Bullet Wanderer - 4 Night Cruise:
Bullet Depart Port Denarau on Mondays
return to Port Denarau on Fridays

Bullet Monday:   Depart Port Denarau on fast catamaran service for a 75 minutes transit to join “Fiji Princess” at anchor in the Sacred Isles. The Sacred Islands provide a breathtaking backdrop. The rest of the day is spent here enjoying these idyllic tropical islands, feeling very special because you and your fellow cruisers are the only ones there! Learn how to make ‘Roti in Lolo’. Tonight enjoy the Captain’s Dinner welcoming the new arrivals into the Blue Lagoon family – an a-la-carte menu served in the dining saloon and entertainment provided by the talented singing, dancing, guitar-playing crew!

Bullet Tuesday:
The destination today is the famed Blue Lagoon. This superb stretch of water is ringed by islands creating the lagoon that is filled with fascinating coral reefs seen easily from above through the crystal clear waters.  One of those islands is Blue Lagoon Cruises very own private island beach. Watch as the crew position the vessel right up to the beach and tie her off to the coconut trees! Diving for both novices and experienced divers can be pre-booked for this location. There are many awesome dive sites within easy reach.  Happy hour is on the beach with canapés served. Tonight, is a very special night with a traditional “Lovo” meal. The food is cooked underground in a specially prepared pit. Watch the unearthing of the “Lovo” and be tantalised by the smells. The dining room tonight is on the beach under the coconut palms and the tropical stars. Following dinner is a fantastic meke with singing, dancing and story-telling by a group of local villagers come to share their fun with Blue Lagoon guests.

Bullet Wednesday:
Dive off the boat at Blue Lagoon, head ashore to the beach or paddle a kayak in the surrounding tranquil waters. Most of the day is at leisure here at the island, laze around or take part in any of the great Fijian Experience activities. All of the island’s activities are on offer again today plus the options for an easy guided walk along the beach and up over the hill to the other side of the island is offered this morning. The views out across the Blue Lagoon make it well worthwhile. You’ll see village gardens, local island residences and arrive at the “very local” Lo’s Tea Shop on the beach! After lunch, Fiji Princess heads north to our next destination, the mystical island of Sawa-ILau. On arrival we set off on a private guided visit to the Sawa-I-Lau caves just close by. Steps rise from the shore up to the first cave. You can view it from the stairs or take to the water. A short swim through an underwater passage takes you into the second of these stunning limestone caves. This evening includes a very special evening visit to the village of Tamasua. A yaqona ceremony, a guided walk around the village and a Fiji village style “feast” sitting on floor mats, that is prepared and cooked by the village women.

Bullet Thursday:
Fiji Princess” heads on out of the bay bound for Drawaqa Island. On arrival at the next beautiful anchorage a Marine Biologist joins you to tell you all about the local fish, marine life and the conservation work the Vinaka Fiji Volunteer team are doing in this area. If you are lucky enough to be here during the period May to October then an introduction to the magnificent Manta Rays, whose feeding ground is just nearby, will be included. Conditions permitting you will have the opportunity to snorkel with these magnificent creatures in small, escorted groups.
From October to April a guided “Reef Safari” snorkelling tour is conducted to see the prolific corals, clams and marine life in this area. This is also a superb dive area and optional dives under expert instruction – perhaps your very first Scuba Dive can be booked. Certified divers well catered for as well!

Weather permitting, dinner is a BBQ on the Upper Deck as we party Fiji style!

  • One child in their own cabin is charged the full Adult Single Cabin fare.
  • An Infant rate is valid for children under 5 years of age (during our designated Family Weeks only) based on sharing an Orchid cabin with 2 Adults (or 2 Children, or 1 Adult & 1 Child).
