Emotu Bay, Moso Island, North Efate, Vanuatu

OUR Thoughts on The Moso Vanuatu
This place is for total relaxation and rejuvenation. Brand new in 2017 and already inspected by several of Our Specialists who have all come away impressed by the whole experience.

Moso Island is one of the several sizeable islands which form the northern rim of the vast Havannah Harbour off North Efate.  All these islands have historical significance and all, apart from their small village settlements are in a natural environmental state surrounded by clear waters which teem with marine life - it’s not unknown to find a family of dugongs grazing peacefully in Havannah Harbour around the remote shores of Moso Island.

The Moso Vanuatu is located on the southern shore of Moso Island on secluded, sheltered Emotu Bay, facing south over Havannah Harbour and catching the cooling south-easterly sea breezes. As you approach the resort from the sea, what immediately strikes you is the way the whole place blends in with the natural surroundings and you will wonder how your boatman will find the opening to the small, private marina which you enter to disembark up a ramp to the resort’s Reception, Bistro and Bar. You’ll note the three, open cabana-style structures in the bay, dotted along the beach frontage each with an individual hammock slung above the water – these are quite unique in Vanuatu and wonderfully relaxing places to while-away the hushed tropical hours.

Each of the resort’s buildings is a work of art, with space and grace to burn.  Each Villa is built in a semi, French Colonial-style with white walls, a high, pitched white-painted ceiling and wide-opening French Windows or pivot windows and louvred pivot or bi-fold doors.  All the appointments in each Villa (with the exception of the mattresses) have been made locally from sustainable products which blend really well with the villa’s spacious, bright interior.  The moment you walk into your villa, you immediately feel the relaxed atmosphere and the stresses of daily life just melt away.  The resort is run on solar power, so Villas have been specifically designed for natural cooling, (not air-conditioning) and by the way the villas are positioned, this works really well.

Having only 5 Villas means there are no crowds, no rush and no noise during the day except the ticking of the palm tree leaves on the breeze, the sound of the gentle waves lapping the shore and the occasional buzz of the resort’s boat as it transfers guests to and from the mainland etc. Take time to enjoy a body treatment, massage or facial at The Moso’s lovely little Day Spa.

Of course, there is the option to be more active too and staying at The Moso Vanuatu provides guests with plenty of opportunities to be active including kayaks and canoes for exploring the islands, walking trails of Moso Island itself, Turtle Reef snorkelling, scuba diving (nearby operator) or taking any of the excursions available.  After all, The Moso is only a ten-minute boat ride from the mainland and from the arrival point on Efate, the trip into Port Vila takes around 30 minutes, so it is quite feasible to base your Vanuatu holiday at The Moso and do day-excursions to town enjoying all the sights and experiences available on Efate such as The Cascades, Blue Lagoon, the Handicraft Market, horse riding, cultural activities, golf and the many restaurants and cafés around Port Vila to name a few. From The Moso it is quite easy to visit Hat Island (the resting place of legendary chief Roi Mata), Lelepa Island, Pele or the volcanic Nguna Island which are all located off North Efate.

So, how long should you plan to stay at The Moso?  Well, the resort has a minimum 3-night stay policy and you would certainly want to give yourself 3 nights to get the maximum benefit of a stay at this remarkable place.  If your holiday calls for complete relaxation and rejuvenation, we recommend you stay longer as, as we’ve mentioned above, it is quite feasible to base yourself at The Moso for your whole stay and radiate out from there.  Our Specialists will happily package The Moso with any other Vanuatu resort or destination and include seamless transfers between this and other resorts as well as other resort bookings for a perfect holiday.

What The Moso Vanuatu Say About Themselves
“Welcome to The Moso

An exclusive boutique resort and dining destination located on stunning Moso Island, North Efate, Vanuatu.

Barefoot luxury in Paradise.

Largely untouched, Moso Island is an isolated sanctuary, surrounded by crystal clear blue water and shaded by rustling coconut trees. After your flight from Auckland we will arrange your airport transfer, which is a scenic 25-minute drive from the airport and a short boat ride across beautiful Havannah Harbour.

Relaxation and escape are all we require from you while we take care of the rest. With five premium villas and bistro & bar, we cater to couples looking for a secluded romantic getaway, groups wishing for that uniquely memorable celebration or day-trippers visiting for a bite to eat and snorkel.

The Moso welcomes those over the age of 16 to come and enjoy our resort at anytime. For younger children, the pikininis, we do require that your group book all five of our villas so the entire resort can become their playground. Child care can be easily arranged.

At The Moso, we specialise in your experience to ensure you create memories that will keep you coming back.”

Your Accommodation Options
The Moso offers five sizeable and stylish beachfront or garden/pool-side villas clustered around and beside the fresh-water swimming pool. The Garden Villa and the 2 Beachfront Villas are the same unique layout with a separate bedroom opening to the lounge through colonial-style bi-fold screen doors. The lounge arrangement of these 3 villas is perfect for a tropical island stay as the spacious lounge features large pivoting screen windows and doors, which, when opened right up, transform the lounge into a beautiful semi-enclosed tropical veranda, and when closed, return the lounge to a pleasant private lounge room complete with day bed and reading chair.

With space galore, the two Plunge Pool Villas are similar in size to the Garden and Beachfront Villas but present all their sleeping/living space in one beautiful open-plan room with the bed at the rear and the lounge area at the front opening to a deck containing an individual plunge pool. Being raised up a little immediately behind the swimming pool provides guests with a superb view over the pool to sparkling Havannah Harbour and the mainland Efate mountains. Tropical planting ensures individual privacy.

The separate three-bedroom Moso Beach House is a good option for a bigger family group or for groups of friends travelling together.
