OUR Thoughts on Poppy’s on the Lagoon Resort
Poppy’s started out in a modest way with just a few self-catering units and a spectacular location on Erakor Lagoon on a site which slopes right down to the beach on the lagoon frontage. Over the years additional accommodation has been added and now, a pleasant restaurant compliments the scene and adds a welcome new feature to the resort experience at Poppy’s. Continental tropical breakfasts are now included in the nightly tariff (upgrades to full cooked breakfast available at additional cost).  In our experience, even with the increases in size and the addition of a restaurant, Poppy’s still provides their guests top-notch personal attention and service by the owners, managers and staff. Poppy’s has 3 swimming pools, one of which is for the exclusive use of adult guests. Complimentary limited access Wifi is also available. All guests enjoy complimentary use of kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and traditional outrigger canoes.

Poppy’s self-rates at 4 Star and we’re happy with that as the accommodation is good quality and could easily qualify for another half star.  The whole place is well maintained and has very high housekeeping standards - an excellent range of services is provided. Not every room in all accommodation types is air-conditioned (all bedrooms are airconditioned), but because of its location facing the south-easterly breezes and the large and airy nature of the rooms, the lack of air-conditioning in some units lounge areas is hardly noticed. 

This is a family-friendly resort and families have a great time here. However, it caters well for adult singles, couples and honeymooners with their “adults-only” section of the resort which is at the quiet end of the beach and comprises 2 Gardenview Bungalows, 4 Beachfront Spa Bungalows and an adults-only swimming pool.

Poppy’s is a great spot for a honeymoon (honeymooners receive special treatment if staying a week) and a superb setting for a wedding. Professional wedding planning and wedding packages are available.

One thing that can sometimes provide first-time arriving guests with a moment of worry, is the state of the road down to Poppy’s entrance. This looks like a private drive, but in fact, is a public road which Poppy's do their best to maintain, and like many of the secondary roads in Port Vila, can be heavily potholed especially during the rainy season. There’s no need to worry though, once you enter Poppy’s you enter beautiful, superbly maintained and groomed grounds and gardens where the ground maintenance staff are constantly on the job and where they even rake the beach every morning.

Your Accommodation Options
Starting at the beach frontage, the rooms closest to the beach are Poppy’s premium accommodation option, the 4, adults-only Beachfront Spa Bungalows behind which are the 2 Gardenview Bungalows. These 6 bungalows are designed adults-only and only guests aged 12 years or over are accommodated in these units.

The 2 Three Bedroom Beachfront Villas, one on each side of the lagoon-facing restaurant, are also located right on the beach frontage.

In a semi-circle around the Family Pool one row back from the beach are three two-level blocks, each block housing 2 Two Bedroom Lagoon Suites. Up the rise behind the Beachfront Spa Bungalows there is a 3 bedroom Lagoon View Villa and furthest back from the beach at the top of the resort there is a two-level  block containing 12 Lagoon View Studios and beside that, another two-level block which houses the 4 Three Bedroom Lagoon View Apartments.

All accommodation is fully self-contained (gas cook top, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, all cooking amenities) and has a private balcony. With the exception of the Gardenview Bungalows (which have an outlook facing the adults-only pool), all accommodation offers guests pleasant lagoon views.

Accommodation Categories (in ascending order of tariff)
 Lagoon View Studios:
Open-plan rooms in a two-level hotel block with 6 rooms on the ground floor and 6 rooms on the first floor above, each with a kitchen. Every Studio gets a lovely view of the lagoon from the raised position of the block they occupy. There are a series of steps (42 of them) in the path between this block and the beach.
Maximum Occupancy:  2 guests, one of which may be a child, plus a baby.
Existing bedding: Either 1 Queen Bed or 2 single beds on request.
Additional Bedding: A baby cot can be added. (Additional to maximum occupancy)

 Garden View Bungalows:
Located very handy to the beach and pool but without a lagoon view, the Garden View Bungalows are part of the “adults-only” section of Poppy’s and are fully self-contained with gas cook-top, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and all cooking amenities.
Garden View Bungalows are air-conditioned.
Maximum Occupancy:  2 adults. Children aged under 12 years are not accommodated in this room category.
Existing bedding: 1 Queen Bed with a romantic canopy over the bed.
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

 Beachfront Spa Bungalows:
Just 5 metres from the lagoon, the high-quality Beachfront Spa Bungalows are stand-alone individual bungalows with a private indoor spa and a balcony facing the lagoon.  All are fully self-contained with gas cook-top, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and all cooking amenities.
Beachfront Spa Bungalows are located in the “adults only” area.
Beachfront Spa Bungalows are air-conditioned.
Maximum Occupancy:  2 adults. Children aged under 12 years are not accommodated in this room category.
Existing bedding: 1 Queen Bed with a romantic canopy over the bed.
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

 2 Bedroom Lagoon Suites:
Ground Floor or First Floor air-conditioned family apartments with 2 separate bedrooms plus full kitchen with full-sized fridge, living and dining areas. There is 1 bathroom which also contains the laundry facility. All overlook the pool and enjoy stunning views of Erakor Lagoon.
Maximum Occupancy:  4 people – 1 of whom will be an adult.
Existing bedding: 1 Queen Bed in both bedrooms - 2 single beds may replace the Queen Bed in the second bedroom. 
Additional Bedding: 1 only baby cot can be added. (Additional to maximum occupancy)

 3 Bedroom Lagoon View Apartments:
These are exceptionally big, 3-bedroom villa/apartments (2 bathrooms) in a block beside the Lagoon View Studios, on the rise - each with a large private balcony and, while not being on the beachfront, offer a stunning view of Erakor Lagoon. Access to and from the beach and restaurant is via steps on the hillside. Each air-conditioned Apartment has 2 bathrooms, lounge area and dining area (6 seater marble top dining table), large fully self-contained kitchen (4 burner gas stove, oven, pantry, full size fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and all kitchen amenities).
Maximum Occupancy: 7 people (including adults and children). One baby in a cot can be added.
Existing bedding: 1 Queen Bed in 2 bedrooms and 2 Single Beds in the 3^rd bedroom. The 2 single beds in the third bedroom can be changed to a Queen Bed on a request basis.
Additional Bedding:  A Single Rollaway Bed can be added in the lounge area for the 7^th person and 1 only baby cot may be added as an addition to the normal room maximum occupacy policy.

 3 Bedroom Beachfront Villas:
Huge air-conditioned, free-standing two-level 3-bedroom/2 bathroom villa only 5 meters from the lagoon beachfront. Beachfront Villas have a lounge area and dining area (6 seater marble top dining table), a large fully self-contained kitchen (4 burner gas stove, oven, walk-in pantry, full size fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and all kitchen amenities) and a large private balcony which extends almost onto the beach.
Maximum occupancy is 6 people (adults or adults and children).
Existing Bedding: A Queen Bed in 2 of the bedrooms and 2 Single Beds in the 3^rd bedroom. The 2 Single Beds in 3^rd bedroom can be changed to a Queen Bed on a request basis.
Additional Bedding: One baby in a cot can be added. (Not counted in Room maximum)

Getting To and From Poppies on the Lagoon Resort, Port Vila
Our Specialists will include arrival and departure Airport Transfers as required/agreed in package arrangements.

It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk into Port Vila from Poppy’s. Once you walk up the hill to the main road the walk to town is mainly downhill. However, suburban roads can be very rough and footpaths non-existent until you get closer to town. A better alternative is to take the local public transport minibus service which stops on demand right outside the resort. Taxis are plentiful and cheap and are able to enter the resort to pick up and drop off resort guests. Rental cars are easily arranged.

Kids’ Policy
Poppy’s On The Lagoon Resort is a family-friendly resort with 2 family swimming pools.  There is an adults-only pool in the Adults Exclusive area.

Subject to maximum occupancy policy, all accommodation is charged on a “per unit” basis and there is no price difference based on the number of occupants be they adults or children.

Facilities for families include:- Special Restaurant Kids’ Menus, complimentary-use on-site BBQ, Babysitting services, Nanny services, Toddlers’ playground, Cots (maximum 1 per accommodation unit) and high chairs are provided free of charge, Wet weather activities arranged for kids on request. Board games and DVDs are available.
