IMPORTANT ADVISORY – TEMPORARY ENERGY CHARGE
Due to the significant rise in global oil prices, Fiji has experienced substantial increases in diesel fuel costs in recent months. As a remote island resort that independently generates its own power and water, these increases have had a considerable impact on our operating expenses.
In addition, many essential goods and services supplied to the resort have also experienced significant cost increases.
To date, Waya Island Resort has absorbed these additional costs. However, following the most recent fuel price increase, our monthly diesel expenditure for power and water generation has risen to a level that can no longer be fully absorbed without impacting the quality of the facilities and services we provide to our guests.
As a result, and until such time as fuel prices stabilise and our planned transition to solar power is completed, a temporary Energy Charge of FJ$20 per room per night will be introduced.
The Temporary Energy Charge will apply to all new reservations received from 15 June 2026 onwards.
Reservations confirmed prior to 15 June 2026 will not be subject to this charge for any part of their stay. The Temporary Energy Charge will be posted daily to guests’ room accounts to be settled upon departure together with any other incidental charges incurred during your stay.
We sincerely regret the need to introduce this charge and appreciate your understanding. This measure has been implemented solely to assist with the extraordinary increase in energy-related operating costs currently affecting Fiji's tourism industry.
Waya Island Resort remains committed to delivering the exceptional guest experience for which we are known and is actively investing in long-term renewable energy solutions to reduce our reliance on diesel power generation in the future.
