OUR Thoughts on The Terraces Vanuatu
Opened October 2012 and maintained in top condition. This (self-rated) 4-Star Apartment-style property is now well established as one of Port Vila's top end boutique accommodation options  The apartments are beautifully modern and very tastefully decorated.  The Terraces Vanuatu is located right beside Mangoes Resort to the left of Mangoes as you face the lagoon. Like Mangoes, The Terraces is built on the top of the rise which overlooks Erakor Lagoon and the overwater bungalows of the Holiday Inn Resort below. The main buildings of the Holiday Inn are well off to the left and pretty well out of sight.

The Terraces' site slopes gently down from the road to the top of the lagoon escarpment.  Reception is at the top of the Resort and the flood-lit tennis court is immediately behind Reception.  The Resort Infinity-edge Swimming Pool, lawn and Gazebo are on the edge of the escarpment and the 3 Terrace-style accommodation blocks surround the pool and the tennis court. The whole Resort is set in mature tropical gardens and there is a spectacular view out over the lagoon from throughout the property.

There is an air-conditioned gym on site and an in-room massage service is available.

With a maximum of 16 accommodation units only  The Terraces does not warrant a restaurant on site, but with full access and charge-back facility at Mangoes’ very good restaurant immediately next door, that almost qualifies as an on-site restaurant.

Note re Vanuatu Tourism Levy
In order to assist the development of tourism in Vanuatu, there is a Tourism Levy of 0.05% added to all nightly room charges.  This charge may either be added to the tariff and included in the prepaid accommodation cost, or in some cases, collected direct from guests at checkout.  The actual amount payable depends on room tariffs and ranges from around NZ$1.00 per night per room to around $5.00 per night per room for the more expensive properties. The Terraces Boutique Apartments include the Vanuatu Tourism Levy in their nightly tariff.

Your Accommodation Options

The name of the resort is derived from the type of accommodation it offers. There are 3 individual accommodation blocks each featuring three or four 1 Bedroom and 2 Bedroom Terrace House-style Apartments. As is the case with all Terrace Houses, the units butt up against each other. All 1 and 2 bedroom units feature a very private patio complete with private plunge-pool and patio sun loungers set beside a cascading waterfall. It is hard to imagine a better place in Vanuatu to relax in the cool of the evening than being beside your own private pool, drink in hand, watching the sunset over the mountains in the distance and the Erakor Lagoon below. All rooms have air conditioning, tea / coffee making facilities, fridge, balcony, enormous bed, shower, in room safe, 32 inch TV with satellite, DVD player, Wifi, Bose iPod docking system, ironing facilities, hairdryer and high quality furniture and furnishings.

The 6 Terrace Studios are actually the second bedroom of the Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartments with the connecting door off the lounge in the 2 bedroom apartment locked off.

Minimum Stay Policy
A minimum stay of 3 nights is required 24 December to 05 January each year.

Terrace Studios:

There are 6 Terrace Studios – one on each end of each block of terraces.  For open-plan studios, these rooms are a very good size at 50m2; enough space for a huge bed with a full-size couch beside it which faces an entertainment unit and wall-mounted 32 inch flat screen TV.  Floor to ceiling doors open out to a pleasant patio. Terrace Studios have a tea/coffee (not Nespresso) facility, an under-counter fridge and iPod connectivity butdo not have a kitchen or a private plunge pool. The bathroom has a large shower.
Existing Bedding: 1 Super-super King Bed which can be split to 2 King Single Beds.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults or 1 Adult and 1 Child aged at least 5 years.
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

Bullet Terrace 1 Bedroom Apartments
      (Private Plunge Pool)
At 141m2, the Terrace 1 Bedroom Apartments occupy the centre of each accommodation block. The entire ground floor is taken up by the spacious lounge, kitchen and separate dining area. There is a floor to ceiling glass window and sliding door leading out to the sizeable patio which contains a private plunge pool to one side. The bedroom is upstairs and there is a small balcony off the bedroom. The large bathroom has a separate shower and features a fantastic free-standing “Cleopatra-style” stone bath. When you first look at the bath you immediately notice that there are no visible pipes and plumbing - that's because the bath fills with water cascading from a unique valve in the ceiling above - very romantic! All the Terrace 1 Bedroom Apartments have air conditioning, full kitchen with dishwasher, Nespresso, daily maid service, balcony, enormous bed, shower and bath, in room safe, 32 inch TV with satellite, DVD player, internet (extra charge), iPod docking system, ironing facilities, hairdryer, high quality furniture, private plunge pool and outdoor living.

Existing Bedding:  1 Super-super King Bed which can be split into 2 King Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 Single Rollaway Bed can be added at additional cost for a 3rd adult or a child aged 5 years plus.

Bullet Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartments

      (Private Plunge Pool)
The Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartments occupy each end of each accommodation block. The Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartments have all the same facilities and a similar basic layout to the Terrace 1 Bedroom Apartments with addition of another bedroom located beside the lounge on the ground floor. Each Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartment is a massive 190m2. The bedroom on the ground floor has a full-sized bathroom and a separate small fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.  The layout of the Terrace 2 Bedroom Apartments makes them absolutely ideal for 2 couples sharing as each couple retains complete privacy when away from the shared living room.

Existing Bedding: 2 Super-super King Beds, (1 in each bedroom) either or both of which can be split into 2 King Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: 1 Single Rollaway Bed can be added to one of the bedrooms at additional cost for a child aged 5 years plus.

Getting To and from The Terraces Vanuatu
Airport transfers will be provided by air-conditioned mini-bus or private car as required/agreed and will be included in holiday package arrangements. The transfers are provided by a specialist transfer operator contracted to Terraces Apartments and they provide Terraces guests with a bottle of water, shell necklace and refresher towel as guests board their transfer vehicle.

Port Vila town is only a 10 minute walk away down the hill, but, as we do with guests staying at Mangoes Resort next door, we recommend the use of the local public transport travel-on-demand mini-bus transport system especially for the up-hill return journey from town.

Kids’ Policy

 - The Terraces is a “5 plus” resort which means they do not
   accept children aged under 5 years.
 - Child-minders are available for babysitting children.
   There is a nominal charge for this service.
 - Children aged between 5 and12 years receive
   complimentary return airport transfers.

Check-in/Check Out

The hotel will make every effort to ensure your rooms are available at your time of check-in.
Standard check-in and Check-out times:
Check In Time: 2:00pm
Check Out Time: 10:00am
The Terraces are very flexible with their check-in and check-out times and will accommodate requests for early check-in or late check-out whenever possible on an "if available on the day" basis. Guests can guarantee a late check-out until 2:00pm on payment of a one-off charge equal to 50% of the nightly tariff of the accommodation occupied.

Cancellation Policy
Bullet All cancellations must be made in writing.
Bullet Cancellations received within 8 to 14 days of scheduled
      arrival incur a cancellation fee equal to the cost of 
      1 night at the rate booked.
Bullet Cancellations received within 1 to 7 days of scheduled 
      arrival incur a cancellation fee equal to the cost of 50% 
      of the total accommodation booked (or 100% of the 
      accommodation booked if the booking was for 1 night) 
       plus bank charges.
Bullet Cancellations made within 24hours of scheduled arrival 
      or failure to arrive incur a cancellation fee equal to  
      100% of the cost of the accommodation booked.
