The Numake family who own and operate Tanna Evergreen Resort & Tours have lived on Tanna Island for hundreds of years – a magical place where the permanently active Mount Yasur Volcano provides the perfect soil to grow 100% organic tropical fruits, vegetables and coffee all year round. The clear turquoise waters provide an abundance of fresh fish and lobsters.
The resort is constructed from trees and bamboo selected from the surrounding forest. The bungalows are made of local materials with excellent cross sea breeze ventilation. Our Thoughts on Tanna Evergreen Resort & Tours
Over recent times Tanna Evergreen Resort has been improved and expanded. The recently completed restaurant and lounge building is proving very popular with guests. The menu is constantly refreshed and, as always, the food here is very much a feature. In Vanuatu terms, meals at Tanna Evergreen are very good value. The bungalows have been refurbished in the past 2 years and 2 brand new bungalows were added in 2013. With the new electricity generator the electricity supply is more reliable. Full internet and Wifi services have been added. Wifi access is now complimentary for guests at Tanna Evergreen. The complimentary snorkelling gear was new in 2012 and guests are now enjoying the new board games and playing cards, the little library, the Beach Volleyball and Petanque Courts as well as the table tennis area.
All the new facilities and services are a welcome improvement to the resort. What they have done is to greatly enhance and add to the original ambience and the wonderful relaxed, laid-back feeling of this place.
Tanna Evergreen is located on a low bluff just around the coast from the White Grass Ocean Resort which is virtually next door and easily accessible by a 300 or so metres walk along the reef at low tide, the distance is only slightly further by road. The volcanic rock coastline and the reef merge out front of Tanna Evergreen and while this means there is virtually no sand at this point of the coast, the reef does provide magnificent snorkelling especially at high tide. The view to the west from the restaurant and lounge, the Honeymoon Suite and the Ocean View Bungalows is spectacular, especially at sunset. The grounds and the gardens are beautiful.
The best way to enjoy Tanna is to spend a few days here and take a few of the personalised, organised tours on offer. Naturally, you will want to do the Yasur Volcano tour, but don’t overlook the many other worth-while tours on offer. Tanna Evergreen run an extensive range of tours to many places you just can’t get to independently. The Custom Villages on Tanna have changed very little over many, many years and a few of them are open to visitors (some are not). The villages are still run very much according to long established “custom” and that’s why they are referred to as “Custom Villages”. An organised visit to a Custom Village is a very worthwhile experience. We also recommend their Tanna Magic Tour & Local Kava Tasting – both kids and adults will be intrigued. The North Tanna & the Blue Water Cave Tour where guests are assisted in a half metre dive through a short tunnel into a magical swimming cave are also well worth considering. Your Accommodation Options
As you arrive from the airport and turn into the drive, the main building is ahead of you on the top of the bluff and the accommodation units spread out to your left as you face the view. The accommodation units which are closest to the quiet road are one of the Garden Bungalows with a private bathroom and beside that there are two blocks each containing 2 more Garden Bungalows but these differ in that each of the 2 bungalows which make up each block share a bathroom. Moving forward a little towards the ocean there is a 2 bedroom Family Bungalow beside which there is a block containing 2 more Garden Bungalows each with a private bathroom. The 5 Ocean View Bungalows are located right on the front of the resort. The nightly tariff includes a Continental Breakfast which includes home-baked bread. Every bungalow has very good cross-breeze ventilation and a veranda.
Garden Bungalows with Share Bathroom
Two individual bungalows share one bathroom located between them. The bungalows are constructed of local materials and have a thatched roof. They are basic but very clean and well-maintained. The bathroom is a modern style.
These bungalows can be let individually or together which would suit a family or small group of friends.
Maximum Occupancy each bungalow: 2 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 double bed in 1 bungalow and 2 single beds in the other.
Garden Bungalows with Private Bathroom
Bigger than the “share facilities” bungalows, the room is built of local material although the flooring is ceramic tiles. The tiled bathroom has good fittings.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 Double Bed plus 2 Single Beds.
The Family Bungalow
Two bedrooms and a nice big veranda; the Family Bungalow has the local-style wooded interior and exterior with ceramic tiled flooring and a nice-sized bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: 7 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: in one bedroom is 1 Double Bed plus 1 Single Bed
and in the other bedroom 1 Double Bed plus 2 Single Beds.
Ocean View Bungalows
With perfect flow-through from the bedroom to the veranda, the Ocean View Bungalows have a nice spacious feel to go with the beautiful outlook. The bathrooms are tiled and well presented.

Getting To and From Tanna Evergreen
Complimentary meet and greet and airport transfers are provided.
Kids’ Policy
Children aged under 6 years stay free when sharing with parents utilizing existing bedding.
A baby cot is available. However, Tanna Evergreen only recommends Tanna as a suitable destination for children aged 2 years and over.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received 4 days prior to arrival incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of booked accommodation cost.
Cancellations received 2 days or less prior to arrival incur a fee equal to 100% of the cost of the accommodation booked.
