OUR Thoughts on Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu
The Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu has a fantastic location on a quiet section of the Erakor Lagoon and only a few minutes from town. This property was one of the first resorts built in Vanuatu and over the years has taken on many changes and improvements. In the last three or four years Holiday Inn has taken over, the whole place has been extensively improved and refurbished and is now, once again, a very good Resort.
The moment you arrive, you know you are in for a treat as you enter the remarkable traditional Melanesian-style lobby building with its soaring roof. The 2 accommodation wings run off this lobby, one to each side. A lounge and bar at the far end of the lobby is dwarfed by the space in this place and there is a lovely terrace or veranda running off the lobby behind the bar which affords a panoramic view of the whole resort. This is a great place for an evening snack and cocktail while taking in the nightly entertainment. An ATM is located in the lobby – good thinking Holiday Inn!
The lobby, the entrance to the accommodation blocks and access to the Day Spa is at this high point of the Resort. The lovely Veranda Restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner (and from which there are more spectacular views), is one floor down and one of the swimming pools also runs off at this level. The main swimming pool and its beachside Pool Bar (which serves lunch and dinner as well as all day snacks) is a little further down surrounded by a perfect white sand beach. The tennis courts are a little further along the beach. There is a well-stocked gymnasium beside the beach where guests enjoy special views while exercising and don’t overlook the on-site 9-hole golf course which combines both the “mainland” and the resort's private Erongo Island in its layout.
At this point, the Erakor Lagoon is very sheltered and an ideal place for swimming, kayaking and Hobie-cat sailing.
We are particularly pleased with the way Holiday Inn has incorporated “quiet zones” within a very family-friendly resort and although there are always families staying here and the kids have a great time, there are plenty of places for guests travelling without children to enjoy a quiet spot away from the children if they so choose. One such place is the Casino Lounge and even if you are not having a flutter, it's a lovely spot for a snack and a cocktail or two. The normal tariff at Holiday Inn Vanuatu includes full buffet breakfast which comprises everything from cold meats to pastries, cereals and fruit to a live-action egg station.
Don’t overlook the options of a private Romantic Dinner for two on the lagoon front with your own personal waiter, or a private BBQ with your friends or family. The BBQ is cooked by a personal chef. Another favourite is the spectacular “Fire Show” held each Thursday evening – don’t miss it!

Note re Vanuatu Tourism Levy
To assist the development of tourism in Vanuatu, there is a Tourism Levy of 0.05% added to all nightly room charges. This charge may either be added to the tariff and included in the prepaid accommodation cost, or in some cases, collected direct from guests at checkout. The actual amount payable depends on room tariffs and ranges from around NZ$1.00 per night per room to around $5.00 per night per room for the more expensive properties.
