INTERCONTINENTAL BORA BORA RESORT & THALASSO SPA
OUR Resort Report.
Our thoughts on InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, Motu Piti Aau, Bora Bora
From high in the air, the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa looks, for all the world, like the shape of two fine wine glasses held at the base by the fringing reef islands (motu's) while the stems and bowls seem to float out into the lagoon facing Mt Otemanu on Bora Bora’s main island. At the base, you will find the Resort Reception, the two restaurants, world-class Spa, horizon pool and beautiful beach. The access boardwalks to the Overwater Villas (they are far too grand to be called Bungalows) line all sides of the two wine glass shapes; one on the lagoon to the left and the other on the lagoon to the right of the resort’s central facility.
It takes approximately 20 minutes by transfer boat from Bora Bora Airport to reach the resort and you know you are going to have a great holiday experience from the moment you first step out on to the beach near Reception and look over at romantic Mt Otemanu framed on both sides by the curving shapes of the overwater villas and feel the utter luxury of this place.
You’ll probably never want to leave the Resort while staying here, but if you do want to visit the mainland, one of the very welcome attractions of staying at InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is that on day trips to the mainland, you can use the facilities of InterContinental’s Le Moana Resort as your base and you can charge back any services enjoyed at Le Moana to your own Villa account at your “home” resort. The boat shuttle to and from the mainland takes 10/15 minutes and is complimentary for guests for services until 4:00pm (charges apply for services after 4:00pm). Meal plans purchased in advance are transferrable between both resorts.
Along with everything else at InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa, dining is superb. Their new fine-dining restaurant “Le Corail” has quickly become recognised as the trendiest gourmet restaurant on Bora Bora and that’s really saying something for the dining standard, service and ambience of the place.
We particularly like the service provided for later departing guests in the form of the day rooms, which are in a separate building handy to the beach. The day rooms provide guests with a lounge and shower facilities to freshen up prior to leaving the Resort.
The whole Spa experience here must be experienced to be believed – it’s simply magnificent.

What InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa Say About Themselves:
“An Eco-friendly jewel in the South Pacific, InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is located between the “two hearts” of Motu Piti Aau, a coral island on the fringing barrier reef. The Deep Ocean Spa is the centrepiece, but the resort offers lots of cultural and recreational activities to fill your days including canoeing, kayaking, snorkelling, stargazing and handicraft demonstrations.
Between the turquoise waters of the lagoon and the deep blue of the ocean, Deep Ocean Spa is situated at the very heart of the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, jewel of the Polynesian hotel business.
With over 4000 m2 of nature, Deep Ocean Spa offers areas for hydrotherapy, beauty care and gentle energy. There are also glass-floored overwater bungalows enabling you to admire the marine life during the sessions you choose, whether you are alone or a couple. We also find relaxation areas with an unobstructed view over the ocean, outdoor jacuzzi, steam baths and showers to awaken the senses, a fitness room, a tea lounge and a boutique. Deep Ocean Spa is a real haven of peace and harmony, with a team of professionals dedicated to your profound well-being.
Aside from its idyllic location, Deep Ocean Spa is the first thalassotherapy centre ever built in the South Pacific, as well as the only establishment in the world using the benefits of water drawn from the Pacific Ocean at depths of over 900 m, to administer care of unrivalled intensity.”
Your Accommodation Options
All the accommodation here is in exceptionally spacious air-conditioned Overwater Villas and Suites. Of the 84 Overwater Villas, all are the same size and layout, it is their location along the two overwater piers and their outlook which defines the different grades and tariffs. Ten Overwater Villas now sport individual plunge pools which is something very special and a welcome addition to the overwater villa experience. Each Overwater Villa is a spacious 65m2 in area and has an additional 30m2 of decks. The Villas feature a modern lighter Polynesian style and have a separate bedroom, a big bathroom and a separate living area which features a glass coffee table with a viewing panel beneath to the lagoon below. The deck off the living room is big enough to accommodate 2 sun loungers and a table and 2 chairs. The lower deck is the perfect place from which to slide (or flop!) into the lagoon.
The 2 x Villa Teremoana are located at the very end of each arm of the 2 overwater piers - each Villa offers spectacular views of Mt Otemanu and up and down the lagoon.
All guests in any villa or suite can call the electric golf carts that constantly whisper around the Resort – after enjoying some late dining and entertainment, guests in Overwater Villas/Suites may well want to avail themselves of this service!
