Our Thoughts on Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort, Moorea
Location, location on Ia Ora beach only 1km from Moorea Airport, 3 kms from the ferry terminal for the ferries from Tahiti and only 2 kms from the golf club.  As you round the point leading into Ia Ora Beach you get a perfect view of this beautiful resort with its individual bungalows waiting to pamper you.

Families are welcome, but this is really a great resort for couples and honeymooners.  There is only 1 swimming pool, but that’s fine because the lagoon is clean and fresh and wonderful for swimming and snorkelling, in fact, for snorkelling you really don’t need a mask, the water is that clear.  There is a dive operator on site and Moorea has many world-class scuba dive locations.  There is an excellent spa and the Polynesian massages are so relaxing.

Although it’s handy to the ferry terminal and airport, the Sofitel Moorea is quite secluded and ideal for a relaxing, romantic break.  You probably won’t want to leave the resort while you are booked there, but if you do; a hire car for a day is good way to explore the rest of Moorea.  All the Sofitel Moorea’s restaurants are very good, but if you decide to try the local restaurants for a change, it’s probably wise to choose those that have complimentary pickup/drop-off arrangements.

For really special occasions Sofitel Kia Ora Beach offer 3 brilliant “Romantic Dinner” options and guests love every one.
Choose from a romantic dinner for 2 at any of these locations:
● At the edge of The Terrace perched over the edge of the lagoon;
● Over The lagoon at a table for two set up on the overwater pontoon;
● In the lagoon with your feet in the water.

Your Accommodation Options
There are two different grades at Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort; “Superior” and “Luxury”.  The main differences between the two is the size of the bungalow and their position; both are open-plan but the bungalows designated “Luxury” are more spacious with a bigger bathroom and a more-defined lounge area.  The land-based "Luxury" bungalows feature a private outdoor patio off the bathroom.

The Garden, Lagoon View and Beach Bungalows spread out along the beach and in the tropical gardens on both sides of the resort’s central buildings which house the reception, the restaurants and bars. The Overwater Bungalows are located along a branching pontoon pier which is located more-or-less out front of the resort.  One branch accesses the Superior Overwater Bungalows and the other services predominantly Luxury Overwater Bungalows.

Room Categories
 Luxury Garden Bungalows:
Luxury Garden Side Bungalows are up to 59.8m² including 11m² decking and are generally located behind the Lagoon View and Beach Bungalows.  Some have a glimpse of the water between the bungalows in front while others are located 30-40 metres away from the beach and furthest away from the restaurants in a semi-circle beside a lovely lawn or beside an intimate tropical garden pond.  All are designed to give guests the impression of the layout of a Polynesian Village. 
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and a Sofa Bed.  A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  A cot may be added.

 Superior Ocean View Bungalows:
Superior Ocean View Bungalows are 31m² plus 10m² decking.  They are located on the beach frontage and face outward towards the Overwater Bungalows.
Special bungalows for disabled guests are available in this category.
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged up to 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed plus a Sofa Bed. A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds 
Additional Bedding:  A cot may be added. 

 Luxury Garden Beach View Bungalows:
Luxury Garden Side Bungalows are up to 59.8m² including 11m² decking and are generally located behind the Lagoon View and Beach Bungalows.  Some have a glimpse of the water between the bungalows in front while others are located 30-40 metres away from the beach and furthest away from the restaurants in a semi-circle beside a lovely lawn or beside an intimate tropical garden pond.  All are designed to give guests the impression of the layout of a Polynesian Village. 
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and a Sofa Bed.  A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  A cot may be added.

 Luxury Beach Bungalows:
Located right on the beach frontage with clear views out over the lagoon (uninhibited by Overwater Bungalows), Luxury Beach Bungalows are 49.8m² plus 10m² decking. 
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed plus a Sofa Bed.  A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  A cot may be added.

 Superior Overwater Bungalows:
Superior Overwater Bungalows are built right over the lagoon and are almost right out front of the resort’s central area.  They are 31m² plus 10m² decking. Optional outrigger canoe delivered breakfasts can be arranged. Special bungalows for disabled guests are available in this category.
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and a Sofa Bed. A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

 Superior Overwater Horizon Bungalows:
Superior Horizon Overwater Bungalows are the same size as the Superior Overwater Bungalows but are located right at the end of the “Superior” Pier, enjoying views over the ocean to the island of Tahiti. They are 31m² plus 10m² decking. Optional outrigger canoe delivered breakfasts can be arranged.
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults & 1 Child aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed and a Sofa Bed. There is no facility to split the King Bed into Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

 Luxury Overwater Bungalows:
Built further out in the lagoon along the “Luxury Wing” of the overwater bungalows, these bungalows are a massive 52m² plus 28m² of decks. Luxury Overwater Bungalows are not suitable for children and are designated for adults only.  Optional outrigger canoe delivered breakfasts can be arranged.  Luxury Horizon Overwater Bungalows are located on the end of the “Luxury” Pier
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults
Bedding Configuration: 1 King Bed.  A limited number provide the option of 2 Single Beds
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

 Luxury Overwater Horizon Bungalows:
The 5 Luxury Horizon Overwater Bungalows are located on the end of the “Luxury” Pier
Maximum Occupancy:   2 Adults
Bedding Configuration: 1 King Bed with no option to split into Single Beds.
Additional Bedding:  No additional bedding accommodated

2 Bedroom Family Bungalow with Ocean View:
Absolute beachfront at the far end of the Superior Lagoon View Villas. The 161m² 2-Bedroom Villa includes a large 44m² living room, extensive decking and 2 spacious bedrooms each with a bathroom, one of which has a shower and the other a bath. Amenities including fans, safe, wine cellar, Jacuzzi, Flat screen TV, Bose Sound and Nespresso machine 
Maximum Occupancy:   4 Adults & 2 Children aged under 12 years
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed in both bedrooms with no option to split into Single Beds, 1 King-Size Sofa Bed in the lounge.
Additional Bedding:  There are a total of 3 Sofa Beds in this villa. A cot may be added.

Getting to and from Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort
On our package arrangements there is a choice of either flying the very short distance to Moorea or taking the fast ferry.  In either case, we will arrange a transfer from your Papeete accommodation to the ferry terminal or the airport. We will provide a transfer on Moorea between the Moorea Airport or Terry Terminal and your Moorea accommodation.  Transfers organised as required/agreed.

Luxury Overwater and Luxury Overwater Horizon Bungalows are designated adults-only accommodation.
