The Solomon Islands are made up of more than 990 islands; Tavanipupu is an island resort that has all the amenities and facilities for your ideal moments to enjoy in paradise.

Tavanipupu is home to clear blue waters and pristine reefs that surround the island and reach out to the unspoilt waters of Marau Sound. Tavanipupu Island Resort welcomes all guests including families, couples, honeymooners, corporate groups and weddings.

This magical island will captivate the most seasoned of travellers.

Built on the site of a former coconut plantation, the exclusive 13-hectare island features just 10 bungalows. Five of the 10 bungalows have been recently renovated and three more bungalows were built new at the start of 2016. Enjoy the accommodations, with rattan furnishings, a plush king-size bed, oversized bathrooms, and private deck with ocean views. Our resort accommodations include drinking water in bungalows, round-trip transportation between the resort and Marau Airport for up to four guests. To enhance tranquillity, our bungalows have no telephones or televisions, however there is complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access in the main lounge areas.

There’s plenty to do if you’re feeling active. Enjoy crystal clear snorkeling straight off the beaches, try a spot of sport fishing or wake boarding from one of our resort boats, go kayaking or bike riding around the island, or choose from and an array of resort ball games.

Maybe that's not your speed, you can sit back and enjoy a book from our library or be swayed into a state of bliss enjoying a massage or body treatment in our over water Day Spa.

Whatever your desire, at Tavanipupu you are certain to find your own piece of paradise.

Tavanipupu is one of the world’s best Island resorts and is regarded as the best place to stay in Solomon Islands. In 2012 the resort hosted the Royal couple, Prince William and Princess Kate.

Visit us at Tavanipupu and we will be sure to make your holiday, adventure, wedding, honeymoon or special occasion an unforgettable dream come true.”

Our Thoughts on Tavanipupu Island Resort:
This is a remarkable little private island resort is one of the jewels in the crown of Solomon Islands resorts.  In the past 12 months or so, Tavanipupu has been taken over by a new management team and a huge amount of work has been done to the bungalows and the central facility to bring it back up to the standard for which it was previously known and loved. Three of the 13 bungalows are newly built in 2016 and five of the original bungalows have been fully renovated over recent times.

Tavanipupu is all about space and privacy.  The 13 hectare island, from which the resort takes its name, is exceptionally beautiful with bays and white-sand beaches, sweeping manicured lawns under the coconut trees of the previous plantation palms and jetties which branch out from the land over the close-in reef which teems with marine life.  Hidden coves abound and gently raised up areas provide outstanding views of the surrounding islands of Marau Lagoon laid out before you.

Tavanipupu Island Resort has a very good restaurant specialising in locally caught seafood and a fixed menu is currently offered. Vegetarian and meat selections are also available. We are particularly taken by the breakfast arrangements here.  Breakfast is included in the nightly tariff.  Every bungalow features a table and chairs on the veranda deck and every morning, at a time to suit individual guests, 2 staff members will walk over to your bungalow from the restaurant bearing breakfast which includes your hot beverage selection. Linger over breakfast on your own veranda and take your time getting into the day – Tavanipupu is so relaxing.

For those people seeking more activities on a holiday, there is a good, long list of things to do – the following list will give you an idea of what is on offer:

Guest activities available:
  • Complimentary wifi in public lounge areas
  • Island snorkelling in crystal clear waters
  • Complimentary use of Kayaks and dugout canoes
  • Round the island hikes/walking path
  • Bicycles for guests to use
  • Table Tennis, Volleyball, Darts
  • Board Games, Books, Cards
  • DVDs and DVD player for hire
  • Paid activities include boat excursions, Island tours, fishing trips,
    wake boarding etc.
  • Overwater Spa & Massage.

Another feature of this island is its close proximity to the “mainland” (Guadalcanal Island).  Take a short boat ride over to the mainland and a whole new experience awaits in the form of unspoilt tropical forests which are accessible via jungle trails which lead you through unforgettable jungle landscapes.

Then, as the day draws to a close, our favourite spot is the overwater bar for a relaxing drink or two while catching the spectacular sunset.

We are excited about the changes and additions to services and facilities the new managers are currently making at Tavanipupu Island Resort. It seems that every week brings additional facilities to enhance the guest experience at Tavanipupu.  Right now Tavanipupu provides an exceptional Solomon Islands holiday experience, but as the new management team becomes more established they are introducing new enhancements.  Right now, a set meal plan package is a compulsory inclusion for all guests staying here, but there is an intention to introduce an a-la-carte menu option as soon as practicable.  We know of a plan to introduce a scuba dive facility and enhancements to the sports equipment available, such as stand-up paddle boards etc.  But there is no need to wait for these changes to happen, Tavanipupu is a great Solomon Islands holiday destination NOW.

Your Accommodation Options
A feature of Tavanipupu is the privacy afforded to guests staying in every bungalow.  Currently numbering 10 stand-alone Solomon Islands-inspired bungalows, all accommodation units are spread throughout the 13 hectare island.  Each is open-plan and surrounded by manicured lawns and tropical gardens and every one of them has a beautiful ocean view from their front deck.  Bungalows have high, pitched open-ended thatched roofs and ceilings.  All offer banks of glass louvered windows, insect screened beds, cool ceramic tiled floors and sufficient space for comfortable lounge furniture. The bathrooms are a work of art – big, open space with modern furnishings and some open out to a tastefully done open-to-the-sky external courtyard containing a second shower.
