OUR Thoughts on Tintoela, Harpers Road, Cascade, Norfolk Island
It’s hard to imagine a more picturesque outlook anywhere on Earth. As you travel the 1.5km from the Burnt Pine Commercial Centre of Norfolk Island, along Taylors Road, then New Cascades Road and into Harpers Road, the outlook just gets better and better. Then, as you turn into either of the two driveways into Tintoela you are confronted with a jaw-dropping vista of gently rolling green hills on both sides of a beautiful valley scattered with Norfolk Island Pines and, on a clear day, 600 metres away and framed by the valley, the dark blue waters of Cascade Bay and the ocean. Talk about spectacular and special!
The top driveway services the 2 Bedroom Hilli Cottage and the 1 Bedroom Kushu Cottage. The second driveway further down Harpers Road is the entrance to the 3 storey Hunkey’s Homestead. Neither of the buildings impinges on the view of the others.
A premium 5-seater car is provided for guests in each cottage, you only pay for the daily insurance cost and for filling the tank with petrol before you leave. For those staying in the Homestead, extra cars can be provided at a similar rate.
This is a wonderful spot for a relaxing holiday. All the accommodation is of a very high standard. As well as being a great place for individuals, honeymooners, couples and families. The 3 units comprising Tintoela can be reserved together for a small wedding, executive retreat, corporate event, family reunion or any small group event of up to 18 people looking for a high standard of comfort and facilities.

There are 3 accommodation options; the 1 bedroom Kushu Cottage, the 2 bedroom Hilli Cottage and the 6 bedroom Hunky’s Homestead. All have fully equipped kitchen, microwave, dishwasher, tea/coffee, phone/fax, wireless internet, TV/DVD, radio/CD player, washer/dryer, iron/ironing board, barbeque, heaters and fans, electric blankets, hairdryer, music, movies, games, picnic basket and beach towels. The Homestead has Foxtel.
The 1 bedroom Kushu Cottage and the 2 bedroom Hilli cottage are on a separate drive above the homestead with a lovely big lawn between the cottages and the homestead. The 2 cottages are some distance apart from each other and are screened for privacy by tropical gardens. All enjoy the same wonderful outlook.

There is a minimum 3 night-stay policy for all accommodation types.
Accommodation Categories
The Kushu 1 Bedroom Cottage:
Timber floors and timbered ceilings with light, modern painted walls. This 106m2 cottage has a separate bedroom and a separate living room. Both rooms face the covered veranda where comfortable outdoor lounging chairs offer a perfect place to catch the view. The living area includes the kitchen, dining and lounge. The bedroom has a walk-through wardrobe to the bathroom which offers both a bath and separate shower. There is a separate laundry room. The veranda houses a BBQ and outdoor dining setting facing he view.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 adults.
Existing Bedding: 1 King double which can be split into 2 single beds if required.
The Hilli 2 Bedroom Cottage:
Hilli is a 145m2 cottage with gabled, wooded ceilings and polished wood floors. The 2 bedrooms, both of which have ensuite bathrooms, are on either end of the cottage and the large open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining space in the centre, faces the veranda and the view. A central fireplace is one of the features of Hilli Cottage. The big lounge and the 2 ensuite bedrooms make Hilli Cottage a perfect option for 2 couples sharing.
A beautiful little picket fence out front, Kentia Palms and Norfolk Island Pines frame the view perfectly.
Hilli Cottage may be booked as either one bedroom/1-bathroom accommodation, or as a two bedroom/2 bathroom unit.
Bedroom 1 does not face the view, but has an ensuite bathroom with a laundry alcove and a separate bath and separate shower, Bedroom 2, which opens to the veranda and the view, has an ensuite with shower only.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed in each bedroom, either or both of which can be split into 2 single beds.
Additional Bedding: There is a double fold-out sofa bed in the lounge which will take 2 guests.
Hunkey’s 6 Bedroom Homestead
The Homestead is 488m2 spread over 3 levels. The middle floor is the main level where guests enter the homestead. There is a smaller top floor and a bigger lower floor which opens to the lower courtyard.
The top level houses a bedroom with a lounge area as well as a smaller single bedroom. There is a single bathroom servicing both rooms.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed in the main bedroom and 1 Single Bed in the smaller bedroom.
The middle (main) level is huge and has a wide wrap-around veranda complete with outdoor dining setting, BBQ and lounging furniture. The country kitchen, complete with informal dining table, is separated from the remainder of the living space by a pot-belly fire. The large lounge has another fireplace (and a piano) and there is a separate formal dining area and a separate Study.
The main bedroom with ensuite bathroom is on this level as well as a separate single bedroom which has a powder room (toilet and hand basin) attached.
Existing bedding in the main bedroom is 1 King Bed. The single bedroom has 1 Single Bed.
The lower level contains another lounge and 2 bedrooms – one with a King Split Bed, the other with a Queen Bed. One large bathroom with combo bath/shower services this floor.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 1 King Bed which splits into 2 Single Beds if required.
Maximum occupancy on the lower level is 6 guests.
Additional Bedding: The Sofa Bed in the lower level lounge will sleep 2 guests.

Getting To and From Tintoela
Return airport transfers are included. A Premium 5-seat Rental Car is provided for each accommodation unit for use of guests staying at Tintoela.
Kids’ Policy
Children aged under 7 years sharing with their parents and utilising existing bedding stay free of charge. Cots and high chairs are provided free of charge.
Resort Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be in writing
A 30% deposit is payable on confirmation of booking
This deposit is non-refundable 7 days after booking
has been confirmed Cancellations made within 30 days of
scheduled arrival incur a cancellation fee equal to 100%
of the cost of the accommodation and services
booked.
