SHERATON KONA RESORT AND SPA
AT KEAUHOU BAY
Our Resort Report
OUR Thoughts on Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay,
Ehukai Street, Kailua-Kona, The Big Island
This is a big Resort Hotel with 509 Rooms and Suites and a superb range of services and facilities. In September 2012, the hotel completed a $20 million renovation and renewal program of all its public spaces which you will notice from the moment you arrive at the stunning porte cochere and enter the lobby lounge, the whole resort, which has always been a great place to stay, is now better than ever.
The new lobby lounge, the Silverswood Bar, is a great place to relax and enjoy the Starwood Social Hour. A brand-new addition to Sheraton Kona, the “Flying Fish” is a unique retail store filled with active-wear and everything from boogie boards, to kayaks to hybrid bike rentals to stand up paddle boards and more. There is also a modern 24-hour Fitness Centre featuring Sheraton’s Core Performance brand standard equipment, cold towels, wide screen wall TV, new low-impact flooring and oceanfront views. You will also find the Keauhou Coffee Company located in the vast lobby area.
“Rays on the Bay” Restaurant, where the famous buffet breakfast and all other meals are served is a great place to dine - right on the oceanfront and featuring the new Rum Bar, complete with fireplace tables, wraparound bar, keawe-grilled "farm-to-fork" dining offerings and freshly fired pizzas as well as home-made ice cream and desserts. Relax among cushion-strewn lounging areas and enjoy live entertainment nightly. Right beside “Rays on the Bay” is Pa’akai Point which is a great spot to catch the sunsets and watch the dolphins and Manta Rays. Enjoy a complimentary “Manta Talk” (nightly, excluding Sundays) in this vicinity.
The meandering Fantasy Pool with its 200' water slide and sandy entry "beach" sports chic white four poster cabanas which are available for guests to rent and come complete with towel, water and fresh fruit service.
Sheraton Kona is in a place of great historical interest and they run very interesting tours of the area which include great storytelling of ancient Royalty. Enjoy daily activities for the whole family – Yoga in the morning, lei making and hula dancing, Aqua- yoga at the pool, dance to upbeat music at Zumba classes, and much more.
If you like the “Big Resort Experience” this place delivers in spades while still managing to retain a high degree of personalised service. Here’s a list of some of the facilities and services on offer – Full-service Spa and Salon, Himalayan Salt Room, Teen Lounge, Wedding Chapel, 2 tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball court, Retail Shops, 24 hour Oceanfront Fitness Centre, The [email protected] by Microsoft internet access, Keauhou Bay Coffee Co, 200 foot-long lava-tube waterslide, interactive children’s fountains, Family-friendly poolside movies and more.
Manta Rays are a feature at Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. Most evenings Manta Rays feed off the cliffs fronting the Resort and there is a public viewing area for guests to enjoy the view. The Resort offers guests the opportunity to purchase a “Manta Experience” which takes them into the water for a night time snorkel or scuba dive excursion. You will often be able to view Mantas from “Rays on the Bay” as well as from the balcony/lanai of many of the Ocean Front Rooms.

Your Accommodation Options
“The Guestrooms and Suites have been refreshed with furnishings, carpeting, flat-screen TVs and renowned Hawaii designer Sig Zane’s visual art in suites, ocean view and partial ocean view categories, reflected throughout the resort.”
With the exception of the 24 Suites, all rooms are the same size and each has a spacious balcony furnished with an outdoor table and chairs. The majority of rooms are located in a 7 storied block which backs on to the convention facility at the “mountain” end of the property. This block extends straight towards the ocean until it reaches the reception and lobby area at which stage it curves gently to follow the curve of the coast in the shape of a “j”. Three 2 to 4 storied wings run off the main wing at this stage and each one in itself, curves towards the cliff face. As a general rule, the front of these 3 wings houses the Ocean Front Rooms and the Presidential Suite. Each block connects with the lobby and its neighbour by means of curved open-sided hallway “bridges”
All rooms are air-conditioned, are equipped with Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, in-room coffee maker, high speed wireless internet access, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, in-room safe, TV, radio and mini fridge.

Getting To and From Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay
We will organise appropriate airport transfers as required in package arrangements.
Sheraton Kona is located on the black lava-rock cliff face approximately 10 kilometres from Kailua-Kona historic town, just off the end of Alii Drive. Staying here you are very handy to the Keauhou Shopping Centre (10 minutes on the Trolley) and only a 5-minute walk away from the marina at Keauhou Bay which houses a range of water activities. The Keauhou-Kona Trolley runs a circle service from Sheraton Kona every 2 hours which takes in not only the historic town but many of the larger town shopping centres and major stores such as Walmart. Guests at Sheraton Kona have unlimited access to the Trolley through the inclusions in the Resort Charge.
We recommend you consider a rental car for at least a portion of your stay at Sheraton Kona. This gives any-time access to all the restaurants and shops. This is also a very good location from which to launch a trip around the island which takes all day if you stop off at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, although you can easily do a day trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park from here as the park is only a 2-hour drive south of Sheraton Kona. Driving to Kailua-Kona historic town is around 15 minutes from Sheraton Kona. Self-park parking at the resort is included in Resort Charges.
