OUR Thoughts on Sheraton Kauai Resort, Hoonani Road, Poipu Beach, Koloa, Kauai
Sheraton Kauai Resort is a central part of the Poipu Beach resort community on Kauai’s sunny south coast, just 30 minutes from Lihue Airport.  The whole resort was “redone” reasonably recently (completed 01 June 2015) and is in great shape with many new features.  The Sheraton brand is well known for the standard of services, activities and facilities it offers, not the least of which is the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, Link@Sheraton Internet Café serving Starbucks coffee and so-on. As you would expect of a Sheraton Resort, there are lifts to all four levels.

There are two very good oceanfront restaurants – RumFire and Lava’s as well as room service.  For guests looking to experience the local independent restaurants and cafés, the Sheraton Kauai’s location makes it easy to walk to either the Poipu Shopping Village a kilometre to the north-east or the more up-scale Kukuiula Shopping Village around the same distance to the north-west.

Naturally you will want to explore the local surroundings and there are plenty of places of interest within 10 kilometres of Sheraton Kauai (beaches, golf courses, the National Tropical Botanical Garden, historic Old Koloa Town etc), as well as the more distant Waimea Canyon and Napali Cliffs and the many other attractions of Kauai, but what attracts us about choosing this place to base a visit to Kauai is the “Resort Experience” you can enjoy at the resort between your sightseeing excursions. The Sheraton Kauai has a Hawaiian Rainforest Spa service, oceanfront yoga, culture/arts program, crafts and hula lessons, a weekly Hawaiian Luau, a beachfront fitness centre to name a few. The new Pool Cabanas which can be hired by the hour or by the day are a very welcome addition to the resort experience here.

This is a full-service resort on a very good beach with great sunsets and beautiful tropical gardens full of natural birdlife.  Whales can be seen (in season) from many room lanais in the Beach and Ocean Wings. Enjoy!

Daily Resort Charge. 
Sheraton Kauai Resort have a Daily Resort Charge includes amenities for you to enjoy during your stay and is compulsory, is automatically added to your room account and payable direct to the resort.

Your Accommodation Options
Sheraton Kauai has an interesting design layout.  Hoonani Road runs into the centre of the resort and the Reception Lounge is on the left side of Hoonani Road as you arrive. Approximately half of the resort’s rooms are in the Garden Wings which are a series of 4 level blocks arranged around and behind the Reception Lounge in beautiful tropical gardens.  Immediately across the quiet road, fronting Poipu Beach is where you’ll find the Beach Wings and main swimming pool complex housing the restaurants which are on a low rocky outcrop at the western end of Poipu Beach.  The Ocean Wing is on the other side of the restaurants and follows the line of Ocean Cove, the next bay around.  The Ocean Wing, which completes the circle of resort buildings, is curved to maximise views of the ocean for the occupants of these premium rooms. All accommodation is air-conditioned and most types have an interconnecting room option. With interconnecting rooms, 1 room will have 1 king bed and the other room will have 2 standard double beds. All rooms have a lanai/balcony, an iron and ironing board and internet access.

 Deluxe Garden Rooms:
Rooms are 47m², located closer to the beach in the inward-facing rooms of the Ocean Wing.  Bathrooms have a double vanity and shower over a bath.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds
Additional Bedding: a cot may be added in these rooms (subject to maximum room occupancy policy).

 Deluxe Oceanfront Rooms:
Rooms are 47m² and located in the Beach Wings and the higher floors of the Ocean Wing right on the ocean frontage. 
Bathrooms have a shower over a bath.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds
Additional Bedding: A cot may be added in these rooms (subject to maximum room occupancy policy).

 Luxury Oceanfront Rooms:
Approximately 47m² in size with spectacular ocean views. Luxury Oceanfront Rooms are located in the lower 2 floors of the Ocean Wing and on the front corners of the Beach Wings. All of them are only metres from the ocean and each opens to a beautiful furnished lanai/balcony. The bathroom has a combo shower and bath.  
Maximum Occupancy:  4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed with a pull-out Sofa Bed
Additional Bedding: A cot may be added in these rooms (subject to maximum room occupancy policy).

Deluxe Oceanfront Suites:
Approximately 144m² in size with spectacular ocean views from both the living room and the separate bedroom  The large bathroom has a separate walkin shower and a bathtub.  
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds
Additional Bedding: A cot may be added in these rooms (subject to maximum room occupancy policy).

Getting To and From Sheraton Kauai Resort
Hawaiian Airlines have up to 16 flights each day between Honolulu and Lihue Airport Kauai.  Flight time is 36 minutes by Boeing 717 jet aircraft. Flights are also scheduled between Lihue and other Hawaiian Islands. An airport shuttle runs between Lihue Airport and Sheraton Kauai and Our Specialists will include the shuttle in itineraries as appropriate/necessary. To drive direct between Lihue Airport and Sheraton Kauai takes approximately 30 minutes.

There is a Shuttle Service that operates in the Poipu area, although it can be a little intermittent in its availability.  It’s an easy walk to 2 nearby Shopping Villages (breakfasts are great at “Living Foods” at the Kukuiula Shopping Village). Kauai is an easy island to explore by car, although you can’t drive right around the island.  If you are not a “tour person” when it comes to visiting the sights, we recommend a rental car for at least a portion of your stay and Our Specialists are happy to organise this for you in advance.

For guests arriving prior to official check-in time, Sheraton Kauai Resort will accommodate guests as rooms become available.  Luggage will be stored until the room is available for guests to check in.
