Our thoughts on Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger
Wailea, along with all the so-called southern beaches, is a favourite destination for those holidaymakers seeking a quality location on Maui with a less hectic atmosphere than the beaches of the north-west around Lahaina and Ka’anapali. The southern beaches area faces west as does Ka’anapali. The southern beaches are slightly closer to Kahului over the cross island road and comprise 3 main areas – Kihei which is 25 minutes from Kahului Airport, Wailea, which is 35 minutes from Kahului and Makena which is 50 minutes from Kahului.
Wailea is a huge integrated resort area comprising many sandy beach bays, 3 championship golf courses, a tennis club, shopping centre, a wide range of condominium resorts and no less than 5 international five star resort hotels. In 1999 Wailea Beach was named “America’s Best Beach”. The beaches around Kihei are only minutes to the north and the magnificent Makena (or Big Beach) is only minutes to the south. All the southern beaches face west or southwest and have views out to Molokini and Kahoolawe Islands and all provide great swimming and snorkelling.
So, Wailea, being the centre of the uncrowded southern beaches, is the ideal spot from which to enjoy and explore this beautiful part of Maui and Palms at Wailea is well positioned as a base. Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger is a 3 diamond rated condominium-style property, and as is the norm in Hawaii, all villas are individually owned and maintained. There are 150 villas in the complex and just under half of them are managed by Outrigger. The property slopes gently towards the coast and the beach which is around a 15 minute walk away through shady streets. The main shopping centre is around a 5 minutes drive away and comprises approximately 70 distinct shops, boutiques, restaurants and galleries. We thoroughly recommend a rental car for the duration of a stay at Wailea or any of the southern beaches as not only does a car give you the flexibility to move around between the beaches, the shops, the golf courses and your accommodation, but with a car the rest of Maui is also easily accessible. We are happy to organise a vehicle for you in your package arrangements. Unlike some properties on Maui, parking at the resort is complimentary for guests of Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger.
Palms at Wailea has a swimming pool and a whirlpool spa. All condos have complete kitchens and complimentary wireless internet access. There is no restaurant on site, but there are a great many restaurants within easy driving distance, either around the shopping centre or at the many resorts which make up the upscale Wailea Resort Area.

Note Regarding “Resort Fees”
In recent times, in high tourist areas of USA like Las Vegas and Hawaii, some hotels/resorts, have introduced what is known as “Resort Fees”. Resort Fees are a compulsory additional charge per day and are not included in the accommodation tariff but payable direct by the guest on check-in at the hotel/resort. Resort Fees can range from as little as US$3.00 per night up to as much as US$30.00 or more per night.
As at January 2015, Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger does not charge Resort Fees.
Your Accommodation Options
These are big, spacious units. All condos at Outrigger Palms at Wailea are in 2 storey blocks and upper floor villas are accessed by stairs only. The villas have nice big balconies or patios, each of which comes complete with an individual BBQ. All main bedrooms in all villas are air-conditioned. It is possible, by paying extra, to request a condo with air-conditioning in the second bedroom and the living area; however, it is important to note that not all have this option so it needs to be pre-arranged. All villas have a sunken lounge area.
Being condo-style with clothes washers and driers included in the villas, only light maid service is provided. This comprises a change of linen and towels and a tidy up every 3 days (subject to a minimum 5 nights stay).

Garden Villas have views of the beautiful tropical gardens, One Bedroom Garden Deluxe Villas are Garden Villas in a preferred location furthest away from the main highway and cost only a fraction more than the standard Garden Villas. Ocean View Villas have a nice view out to the ocean and the islands beyond.

Existing Bedding: 1 King or Queen Bed in the bedroom. 1 Queen-size fold-out Sofa Bed in the living area.
Additional Bedding: 1 Rollaway Bed or cot may be added subject to room maximum occupancy policies.

Two Bedroom Villas are very spacious 125m2 in area and have 2 bathrooms. Garden Villas have views of the tropical gardens, Garden View Deluxe Villas have views of the pool and/or the garden and are located in the grounds furthest away from the main highway. Ocean View Villas have views out over the gardens to the ocean and islands.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 Adults or 2 Adults & 4 Children
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed in one bedroom and either a Queen Bed or 2 Single Beds in the 2nd bedroom. 1 Queen-size fold-out Sofa Bed in the living area.
Additional Bedding: Rollaway Beds or cots may be added subject to room maximum occupancy policies.
Checkout Cleaning Fee
A mandatory check-out cleaning fee is charged at Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger as follows:
One Bedroom Units: $125 plus tax ($135 plus tax from 01 January 2016)
Two Bedroom Units: $175 plus tax (No change for 2016)

Getting to and from Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger
We will provide a coach or private car arrival/departure transfer between Maui Airport and Palms at Wailea as required/agreed
Kids Policy

Children 17 years of age and under are complimentary if accommodated in existing bedding and sharing with at least 1 paying adult.
Check-in/Check Out
The hotel advises that they will do all possible to accommodate guests arriving prior to 3:00pm but can only guarantee accommodation will be available immediately on arrival if accommodation has been booked and paid from the night prior to arrival.

Check Out Time: 11:00am
A late check-out to 6:00pm may be available at a charge of 50% of the room rate occupied. This facility can only be arranged once guests check-in and is payable direct to the hotel.
Resort Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing.
Cancellations made more than 15 days prior to arrival are subject
to a US$75 cancellation fee levied by the resort.
Cancellations made 15 days or less prior to arrival or "no shows" are
subject to a 1 night cancellation charge.
Christmas Policy - Cancellations or "no shows" for bookings scheduled
to arrive during December 18 to 31 are subject to a cancellation fee
equal to 100% of the cost of the stay booked.
