OUR Thoughts on Royal Davui Island Resort, Beqa Lagoon, Fiji
This is a remarkable Resort on a remarkable island. You would be hard-pressed to find a more relaxing and romantic 5 Star Resort anywhere in The Pacific. The island itself is a gem; small enough to provide an intimate up-market “private Island” atmosphere but big enough to allow guests individual privacy in the placement of the 16 Vales & Suites. This is not a “low” island. The island, with its plentiful palms and shady trees, rises from the beaches up to a central peak a few metres above the ocean; this provides guests with the spectacular views they enjoy from their individual Vales & Suites and from the Banyan Restaurant.
With the intimate number of accommodation units, guests very quickly start to enjoy first-name interaction with the excellent management and staff. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included in the tariff. Breakfast is a major meal and there is an extensive breakfast menu. The lunch and dinner menus change daily. Each evening a newsletter, which outlines the next day’s optional activities as well as the next day’s lunch and dinner menus, is delivered to guests’ Vales. It’s great fun contemplating the meal options and then communicating your choices to staff at breakfast. The meals at Royal Davui are exceptionally good and the chef is very accommodating of special needs. Guests are not forced into communal table dining – you can be as private or as social as you wish.
Meal options don’t end with the three main meals in the restaurant. Room service is happily provided and the outdoor dining table and chairs on your Vale deck is a great spot to enjoy a private meal. Canapés are provided each day and before dinner, guests usually mingle around the bar where many good conversations are had and lasting friendships are made. After dinner there is usually some activity or other in which guests may decide to participate – such activities as crab races, dancing and kava tasting. A signature activity at Royal Davui is their Sand Quay Picnic, an optional activity at additional cost. Try not to miss it. Only one couple at a time is taken at low tide to a pure white-sand “quay” off Davui Island in the middle of the ocean which is completely surrounded by the sea and which only appears at low tide. Guests enjoy a picnic and time to be a “beachcomber” before the tide comes in. The picnic may be taken for breakfast or lunch; the timing is completely dependent on the tides and the weather.
Very good snorkelling is to be had directly off the beach or jetty – in season, the baby reef sharks are a delight. There are racks of kayaks to be used at will and kayaking around Davui is really enjoyable. There are many beautiful paths on the island and moving around between your Vale and the beaches, restaurant etc is peaceful and easy. Another activity worth your participation is a visit to a village and school on Davui’s “big sister” Beqa Island. The cosy Davui Spa offers great spa treatments and massage.
There is a professional Dive operation on Davui and the full range of Dive options is available including Discover Dive for beginners’ right through to an Advanced Open-Water Course. We have special Dive Packages available. Adventurous guests enjoy the opportunity to participate in the shark feeding dive. Diving and Game Fishing in the Beqa Lagoon are world-renowned.
We find the little extra touches at Royal Davui very appealing. Vales have filtered drinking water and a mini-bar and rooms are serviced at least twice daily. We love the homemade biscuits provided free of charge in each Vale – the supply is replenished every day. A little “hello” gift in the form of a warm loaf of Grandma’s Banana Bread is a delightful welcome in your Vale.

Our recommendation is that you spend as much time at Royal Davui as you can and don’t split your stay with anywhere else. However, if you do decide to split your time in Fiji – do Royal Davui as your final stop and remember, if you book a minimum of 5 nights which qualify for their generous Stay/Pay Special, your last night is free.

Your Accommodation Options (In acsending order of tariff)
Royal Davui Island has a total of 16 villas and every one is a stand-alone building (no shared walls) and each one is truly magnificent. They all have subtle differences but their basic layout is similar. The difference between the categories lies in their position on the island and one or two other small features. All offer a perfect fusion between traditional Fijian and contemporary styles with high peaked ceilings, polished hardwood floors and large modern bathrooms. Each has a separate, air-conditioned bedroom and a separate lounge, both with individual wood and glass bi-fold doors out to a wooden sun-deck. Each villa (except one Lagoon Plunge Pool Villa) is split level with the lounge usually 3 steps below the bedroom. The bathrooms are very special. Raised up 3 or 4 steps behind the bedroom, the nice big spa bath backs on to the bedroom and there is a wonderful view from the bath over the top of the bed out to the sun-deck and the ocean. Even with this feature, the bathroom is private. The other feature of the bathroom is the shower which, even though it is located within the bathroom, has an optional open-to-the-sky roof. This provides the best of both worlds – a normal internal shower with a romantic opening sky roof. A double vanity completes the picture.
The decks are spacious. The deck off the bedroom is furnished with 2 very comfortable sun-loungers and the deck off the lounge has an outdoor dining table and 2 chairs. The private plunge pool is usually accessed direct from the lounge deck. All Villas are very high quality. Wifi is available in all Villas.
Room Categories
Island Plunge Pool Villas:
Located on the southern and eastern sides of Royal Davui, the 8 spacious (84m2) Island Villas have stunning views of the lagoon and reef system below as well as close access to the southern beach. The private plunge pool in each deck is heated.

Lagoon Plunge Pool Villas:
“Royal Davui's elegant tropical design is purposely casual, just the way Fiji should be. In addition to your private plunge pool, each of Royal Davui's 4 Lagoon Plunge Pool Villas has two large verandas as an extension of the living area with vistas of the Beqa Lagoon and stunning sunsets. Each deck is designed for either sunning or dining.”
We say: A little bigger than the Island Villas at 90m2, the Lagoon Plunge Pool Villas face west for the magical sunsets. Their recently renovated plunge pools are heated. Lagoon Plunge Pool Villas feature a beautiful canopied bed.

Davui Plunge Pool Villas:
The five 110m2 Davui Pool Villas are quite different. They occupy the highest, most secluded positions on the island on their own prominent piece of land. The “West Villa” on the western side has special wide “horizon” decks on 3 sides – from the deck you feel like you are floating above the ocean. The “Sunset Villas” are also on the west side. The “East Villa” on the opposite side of the island has slightly less decking but features a super indoor garden. All Davui Villas provide all-round views and capture both the sunrise and the sunset and feature a romantic canopied bed and a heated pool.

Getting To and From Royal Davui Island Resort
Air & Sea:
Transit time is 1 hour. Royal Davui Island runs 2 scheduled services every day between Nadi Airport and Pacific Harbour Airport which connect with a transfer to the island. The flight time from Nadi International Airport to Pacific Harbour Airport is 25-minutes by scenic flight which skirts the Coral Coast en route. The crossing between Pacific Harbour Marina and Royal Davui takes approximately 35 minutes
Inbound Transfers:
Flights depart Nadi at 9:30am and 3:30pm and guests arrive on the island at 10:30am or 4:30pm respectively.
Outbound Transfers:
Water Taxi services depart Royal Davui for Pacific Harbour at 9:00am and 3:00pm and the flights from Pacific Harbour Airport arrive Nadi Airport at 9:25am and 3:25pm.
Road & Sea:
For guests preferring not to fly, or for those guests staying at Coral Coast resorts prior to travelling to Royal Davui, a private car transfer can be substituted for the flight. The scheduled transit time between Nadi and Pacific Harbour by car is 2.5 hours. Kindly note the car may be shared with other guests travelling to/from Royal Davui Island and guests may be picked up and dropped off at any resort between Pacific Harbour and Nadi Airport. The Resort’s fast launch transfers guests on the 30-minute crossing between Pacific Harbour and the Island.
Charter Aircraft/Boat:
The Resort Aircraft can be chartered between Nadi and Pacific Harbour Airports at additional cost for more immediate transfers.
Helicopter:
Helicopter transfers are available direct between Nadi Airport and Royal Davui Island. Direct flight time by helicopter between Nadi and Royal Davui Island is 35 minutes. A scheduled helicopter service operates in both directions twice daily and helicopters may be chartered at other times. (Helicopters only operate during daylight hours and may not land at Royal Davui Island prior to 8:00am.)

Kids’ Policy
Guests aged a minimum 16 years are welcome at Royal Davui Island Resort year-round.

The occupancy of accommodation before 1:00pm is on a request basis only unless the accommodation has been booked from the night prior to arrival.
Late check-out may be requested but can only be guaranteed if accommodation has been booked for a further night
Resort Prepayment, Amendment and Cancellation Policy
Full payment is required 45 days prior to arrival. Failure to comply may result in the resort releasing the booking.
All cancellations must be made in writing
Bookings cancelled more than 45 days of scheduled arrival do not incur a cancellation fee.
Bookings cancelled between 31 and 45 days of scheduled arrival incur a cancellation fee of FJ$2500 per villa
Bookings cancelled between15 and 30 days of scheduled arrival are charged a cancellation fee equal to the cost of 75% of the total booking held.
Bookings cancelled less than 14 days of scheduled arrival and guests who fail to show on the due date incur a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the cost of the booking held
Please note amendments requiring change of dates for a guest stay are treated as cancellations and fees are charged according to the amount of notice given as shown above.
