MANTARAY ISLAND RESORT
Our Resort Report

Our Thoughts on Mantaray Island Resort, Nanuya Balavu Island, Naviti Group, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
This resort offers an interesting cost-effective way to enjoy the famous Yasawa Islands for singles, couples, groups of friends, honeymooners and families, in fact it is an ideal holiday destination for anyone seeking a laid-back beach vacation.  The site is superb – a powder-white beach overlooking a channel dotted with off-shore islands in the Yasawa Islands group, far away from traffic and the noise of the city, with clear skies and clear waters for remarkable snorkelling and diving.  The resort itself has a wide range of accommodation options from a modern block of beachfront villas to natural-chic stand-alone beachfront bures and a 32-bed dormitory.

Each year between May and October the waters around the resort attract Pacific Manta Rays and as many as 20 Manta Rays have been recorded at times in front of the resort at one time. Snorkelling trips are organised each day during the Manta Ray season (when the rays are present) and on these trips guests can enjoy swimming near the rays. They beat a drum at the resort on the days the rays are around!

There is a very pleasant casual vibe about this place, but there is nothing casual about the professional dive operation or the attention to food production in the remarkable resort restaurant.  As there is no other food outlet available anywhere near Manta Ray Island Resort, the resort has a compulsory Meal Plan which all guests purchase directly from the resort for each day of their stay.

There are quite a few little resorts dotted around the Yasawa Islands which we recommend and book and all are good in their own way.  Mantaray Island Resort is a great choice for a holiday in the sun for people seeking well-priced friendly informality, superb surroundings, diverse and interesting fellow travellers, a wide range of activities and the ability to totally relax in your own company as the mood takes you.
