Our Resort Report

Our Thoughts on Yasawa Island Resort and Spa, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
For those seeking to holiday in an intimate, up-market resort away from the crowds, with superb accommodation options, surrounded by amazing while-sand beaches and where all meals and a whole range of activities are included in the tariff, Yasawa Island Resort & Spa could well be your exact fit.

Yasawa Island, from which the Resort takes its name, is the northernmost island in the Yasawa Islands chain. It is so remote it takes 30 minutes to fly direct from Nadi by Resort Charter flight or 5 hours from Port Denarau Marina by fast catamaran ferry to Nanuya, an island south of Yasawa, and then a further 1 hour by Resort Speed boat to The Resort. The remoteness of this place adds immeasurably to your enjoyment; there are no day-trippers, there is no other accommodation on the island and no children aged under 12 years staying except during the designated family weeks (see Families & Kids section below).

over recent times the property has undergone several improvements which ensured the high quality standard is maintained and enhanced.  All the Bure interiors were repainted in modern, lighter tones and all Bure decks were replaced in beautiful Fijian Mahogany planks. Guests now sleep on new 1200 thread count sheets; there are new deluxe towels and new lampshade covers to go with new bathroom taps and a great new iPad/iPhone/iPod compatible stereo.  The outdoors weren’t forgotten either.  The Resort footpaths were extensively landscaped.

Free high speed wireless internet is provided in and around the Main Bure & bar and a computer with internet access is available for guest use in the resort library.

Yasawa Island Resort includes all meals in their daily tariff as well as all non-alcoholic drinks including coffee. Guests also have the option of pre-purchasing a “Liquor Inclusive Rate”.  The optional Liquor Inclusive Package includes beverages from the Standard Wine, Beer and Drinks List.  The Premium List is available at additional charge and includes French Champagne, fine wines and premium beverages. The mini-bar in your bure will be stocked with drinks of your choice (both soft drinks and wine, beer etc.)  Guests not taking the optional liquor inclusive package will be charged for alcoholic drinks consumed.  Soft drinks are provided free of charge.

The Resort has a wonderful Spa from which there are views of the beach and they have an Ultimate Spa Bonus Package which you pre-purchase before you arrive on the island. For 1 set price for a daily Spa treatment, irrespective of the number of days you take a treatment, there is no additional cost. The Ultimate Spa Bonus is a great deal for stays of 4 nights or more. (See further details under “Specials” below)

For dedicated Scuba divers, there is a dive operation based at Yasawa Island Resort.

The best advice we can give you is to not rush your holiday at Yasawa. Even though you do get straight into total relaxation mode on arrival, we recommend at least 5 or 6 nights here - 7 or more is even better.

Yasawa Island Resort & Spa now has a year round 3 night minimum stay policy and we must say, we heartily endorse this policy, as, a stay of any less than 3 nights, would not possibly do justice to this place.

Included in the tariff at Yasawa Island Resort & Spa:
 All meals
Room service and private dining options
Non-alcoholic bottle beverages including soft drinks fruit juices, bottled water, tea and coffee.
 Private beach picnics
High-speed wireless internet in and around the main bure, bar library and lounge areas.

What Yasawa Island Resort & Spa Say About Themselves
"Yasawa Island Resort and Spa is an exclusive retreat on one of the most remote and unspoiled islands of Fiji. Just 18 luxury bungalows are hidden among the palms, each just a few steps from a pristine white beach. Swim in crystal clear waters, dive on vividly coloured corals, connect with an ancient culture or indulge in Fiji's first beachfront spa. Whatever you choose to do at Yasawa, you'll do it in complete seclusion.

Yasawa might be an island of isolation, but it's also an island of plenty. All meals and snacks are included in the tariff at Yasawa, promising contemporary cuisine at every sitting and an emphasis on the succulent seafood caught daily in surrounding waters. Lobster plucked from the nearby reefs is a specialty. Dine at the restaurant, on the beach, in your bure or beneath the stars. The choice is yours.

Yasawa is home to Fiji’s first beachfront spa, just metres from the ocean’s edge on a sweep of soft white sand. The Baravi Spa draws its name from the Fijian word for beach and has been carefully constructed in a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, with an ocean-view massage deck perched over the sands in the open air, fanned by sea breezes. Our signature massage, the Baravi Rhythm, is performed by two synchronized therapists, working in time -with the sound of the waves.

Solitude - It’s our favourite pastime at Yasawa. So whatever you choose to do during your stay, you’ll be free to enjoy it in peace. Take a complimentary picnic on a deserted beach. Visit nearby villages to meet the local children or hear the church choir. Swim in the crystal waters of the famous Blue Lagoon or snorkel among corals and tropical fish. Do as much or as little as you choose. All activities at Yasawa are included in the tariff (except spa treatments, scuba diving and sportsfishing)."

Entertaining Kids – “Kachi Club”.
Not your normal Kids’ Club but something really special to entertain kids.  To Quote Yasawa Island Resort:
“Kachi” is the Fijian word for kids! Yasawa’s “Kachi Club” caters to its young guests with a fun and organic program that teaches them about the culture, environment and natural world here in the Yasawa Islands.

Here, you will not find a Kids Club with western toys, video games and plastic furniture. At Yasawa, each day’s Kachi Club activities are tailored around the various ages and interests of the children in house that day. Yasawa’s young explorers have fun learning on the beach, under the sea, in the local village and with our amazing Fijian staff.

Besides fun and stimulating activities, the “Kachi Club” program offers a variety of healthy meal options, yummy treats (it is a holiday afterall!) and special meal times for children, but families are always welcome and encouraged to dine together. We do ask that if children join their parents in the dining room during the adult dinner hours that they behave quietly and respectfully so as not to disrupt the evening ambiance for those guests who are not travelling with children or who choose not to dine with their children in the evening”.
