Our Thoughts on Octopus Resort, Likuliku Bay, Waya Island, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Octopus is the third Yasawa Islands resort in the group comprising Paradise Cove, Blue Lagoon Resort and Octopus Resort and carries on the tradition of all three - a spectacular beach location, a wide range of accommodation types to cater successfully to a really diverse clientele, a compulsory meal plan and a very close and harmonious relationship with their local Fijian Village.
Octopus Resort, on Waya Island in the south of the Yasawa Islands Group and the biggest single island of all the Yasawa islands, is only 1½ hours by fast resort boat from Vuda Point Marina on the mainland, so guests here get to experience the sublime Yasawa Islands without the long sea trip needed to get to some of the other resorts out here off Fiji’s west coast. There is reasonable cell phone coverage and complimentary Wifi hotspots too, in the public areas around the pool and bar. Octopus Resort is on the western side of Waya Island, so the sunsets from the resort are sublime. Being a "high" island, the interior of Waya can be quite steep in places, but for those making the effort to trek to the top the views are spectacular. The resort is located on a long beach on Likuliku Bay which has a rocky bluff at each end – rounding the northern bluff brings you to another superb, (and mainly deserted) beach off which the marine life (fish and coral) is undisturbed and prolific. Mind you, there’s not too much wrong with the snorkelling off the beach directly outside Octopus Resort either.
To complement the resort’s swimming pool with its ample sun-loungers and shade umbrellas, there is a lovely little private Spa Bure, the Sulua Day Spa which offers massage, pedicure and manicure services, daily Yoga classes and a PADI Dive Shop providing access to over 30 incredible dive sites for those guests into scuba diving. The regular day trips for guests to swim with the Manta Rays from May to October are very popular.

Air-Conditioned 8 Guest Dormitory:
The two 8 room co-ed dormitories are both modern rooms with 8 single beds (not bunks), each bed with an under-bed locker trunk, quality pillows, mosquito nets, bedside tables and individual reading lamps. They are air-conditioned. Dorm beds are supplied with fresh clean linen, towels and a beach towel on a regular basis. The dormitory guests enjoy a view of the resort’s swimming pool.
Guests in this accommodation type have access to a modern, fresh bathroom block nearby.
Maximum Occupancy: 8 Adults in each
Existing Bedding: 8 Single Beds in each
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.
Children and infants are not accommodated in this room category.
Private Bungalows:
An intimate 20m2, Private bungalows are ideal for a couple on a budget or for 2 friends travelling together who are seeking a cheaper accommodation option but requiring greater privacy than a dormitory can offer. The Private Bungalows at Octopus are found in the garden area of the resort. They are fan-cooled as well as having good flow-through ventilation and the price is kept low by guests sharing the communal bathrooms with guests in the two 8 bed dorms. Each Private Bungalow has an exclusive-use veranda and guests enjoy a daily service.

Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed which may be split into 2 Single Beds if required.
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding accommodated.
Only guests aged 18 years plus are accommodated in this room category.
Garden Bures:
Located in a garden setting but only a few steps from the beach, the fan-cooled, family-friendly Garden Bures comprise a pleasant open-plan room which opens directly off steps up from the garden. Each Garden Bure features a private ensuite bathroom which has the vanity and toilet in the interior of the Bure then open to a private courtyard and an "open-to-the-sky" tropical rain shower. Garden Bures have a personal in-room safe and furnished balcony.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 guests
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed and 1 Single Bed.
Additional Bedding: A single rollaway bed may be added.
Premium Garden Bures:
Still in the garden area but even closer to the water than the standard Garden Bures. The Premium Garden Bures are bigger than standard Garden Bures and each one has a substantial, furnished, private veranda, outdoor hammock personal safe and is serviced daily. Guests enjoy the authentic Fijian Bure-style of these bures which have thatched roofs and woven fibre walls and a big, romantic, suspended mosquito net over the Queen bed. The fan-cooling is aided by the incredible high woven bure-style ceiling and the flow-through ventilation. The bathroom is of the courtyard style with vanity and toilet under cover and an amazing courtyard shower.

Beachfront Bures:
These Bures, while very similar to Premium Garden Bures in size and layout, are right on the beachfront, with private sun loungers and hammocks, just a few steps to the ocean. Each air-conditioned Bure has its own private bathroom featuring an environmentally-friendly solar powered hot water system and ceiling fans in addition to the high, peaked woven ceiling and flow-through ventilation. The open-roofed courtyard shower off the internal vanity and toilet are a delight. The furnished outdoor balcony is the ideal place to relax and catch the sunset and each Beachfront Bure comes complete with private sun-loungers, hanging daybeds on the beach, private sunloungers and umbrella, complimentary minibar and a room safe.

Family Beachfront Bures:

Point Villas:
These beautifully appointed, air-conditioned premium villas are absolute beachfront. Nestled into the cliff face at the northern and southern ends of the property, they all have a large balcony space, private sundeck and beautiful open-air bathroom. The natural polished timber plank floors are enhanced by the modern, light painted walls and topped off with the most magnificent Fijian Chiefly-Bure-style natural woven high vaulted ceiling. Point Villas are ideal for a couple seeking an up-market air-conditioned, beach frontage location or for a family with younger children.

Poppies Lodge:
The three air-conditioned Poppies Luxury Lodge units are really terrific accommodation. Joined together in a block, they are right in the heart of the resort. Each unit has a beautiful big veranda which is furnished with built-in Day Beds and you virtually walk down three or four steps off the veranda right on to the beach sand. We think you’ll love the cool ceramic-tiled floor and the tasteful integration of contemporary décor with its nice Fijian touches. The bathroom is the beautiful Octopus Resort signature courtyard bathroom with internal vanity and toilet and that wonderful open-air courtyard shower.

The 3 Bedroom Beachfront Villa
A three bedroom Beachfront Villa with its own separate lounge and kitchen, this suite comes with a full daily butler service, breakfast prepared in your kitchen by the staff, lunch served on your private dining table beachside.
Your own private beach chairs, hammocks and sun umbrellas. Fully air-conditioned, beachfront location close to the pool and restaurant.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 Adults or 6 Adults and 3 Children
Existing Bedding: 3 four-poster King Beds and 3 Single Beds.
Additional Bedding: A (complimentary) baby cot may be substituted for one of the Single Beds

Getting to and from Octopus Resort
Located 27 nautical miles (50 kilometres) from the Fijian mainland Octopus Resort is easily accessible by the scheduled fast catamaran ferry service “Yasawa Flyer” from Port Denarau.
Scheduled High-Speed Catamaran Ferry:
“Yasawa Flyer” operates a daily schedule between Port Denarau and Octopus Island
The Yasawa Flyer stops at South Sea Island, Beachcomber Island, Vomo and Bounty Islands enroute in each direction between Octopus Resort and Port Denarau.
Kids Policy
Little Kids Stay and Eat Free
Guests aged under 5 years stay and eat free when sharing accommodation with parents/carers.

Meal Plan
Children rates apply for the compulsory meal plan apply to children aged between 5 and 12 years.
Adult meal plan rates apply once children are aged 13 years.
Kids’ Club
The “Little Squids” Kid's Club is available year-round for children aged 3 years and older. Children aged between 3 and 5 years or kids of any age who can’t yet swim are offered a variety of supervised indoor activities. For children who can swim and are aged 5 years or older, there is a wide variety of outdoor and water based activities for them to enjoy.
