OUR Thoughts on Barefoot Manta Island Resort, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Barefoot Manta Island Resort is a relaxed, eco-focused island retreat set in Fiji’s remote Yasawa Islands, surrounded by coconut palms and three pristine beaches just minutes apart. Operating within a protected marine sanctuary established in partnership with traditional landowners, the resort is deeply connected to marine conservation and authentic island living.
The resort is best known for its seasonal manta ray encounters. From May to October, manta rays feed and glide through a tidal channel beside the island, offering guests the rare opportunity to snorkel alongside these gentle giants under the guidance of resident marine biologists. Year-round, vibrant coral gardens are easily accessible from the beach, making snorkelling simple and rewarding for all experience levels. Guided snorkelling tours, reef monitoring, and informal marine talks invite guests to learn about reef ecosystems and conservation efforts first-hand.
Accommodation is simple and genuinely beachfront, with a daily package that includes meals, WiFi, snorkelling equipment, kayaks, paddle boards, and scheduled activities. Evenings unfold at a relaxed pace, with shared meals, guitars at sunset, and warm Fijian hospitality that makes guests feel part of the island community. Barefoot Manta delivers an authentic, nature-driven Fiji experience—unpretentious, immersive, and unforgettable.
There is a compulsory meal plan which consists of buffet breakfast, one course a la carte lunch and three course a la carte dinner daily.
All accommodation at Barefoot Manta are beachfront, there are bures to fit couples, friends and families and also a dorm for those travellers on a budget, including a girls only dorm.

Room Categories

Vai Beach Dorm:
Ideal for independent travellers or friends travelling together and are on a budget. Fan cooled and close to the beach. Shared bathroom facilities with hot showers and linen is provided. Girls only dorms are also available. Lockers with a padlock are available to store valuables for an additional fee.
Maximum Occupancy: 7 guests per dorm.
Existing Bedding: 7 Single Beds.
Beachfront Cakau (Reef) Bure:
Bures are close to Sunrise Beach, with views of the ocean from the bed, fan cooled and have shared bathroom facilities with hot showers and linen is provided.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults.
Existing Bedding: 1 x Queen Bed or 2 x Single Beds.
Beachfront Levu (Large) Bure:
Largest bure, ideal for families, couples and friends. Bures lead onto the beach and has private deck area. Fan cooled and has ensuite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 3 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Beds.
Beachfront Adi (Queen) Bure:
Stunning beachfront location with private garden setting with hammock and beach access. Outdoor shower, fan cooled and ensuite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Beachfront Yanuyanu (Island) Bure:
These Beachfront Bures are ideal for couples or families with up to 2 children. Bures are located on the Sunrise and Sunset beaches, ocean views from the Queen bed. Outdoor shower, fan cooled and en suite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 2 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Bed.
Getting to and from Barefoot Manta Island Resort
Scheduled High-Speed Catamaran Ferry:
The transit is on the “Yasawa Flyer”, a modern, air-conditioned high-speed catamaran ferry with a café on board which operates a daily schedule between Port Denarau and Barefoot Manta Island Resort.
Non-Scheduled Helicopter Transfers:
Very popular and provided by Island Hoppers Fiji, they need to be prebooked well in advance by Our Specialists.
Compulsory Kids Meal Plan
Children rates apply for the compulsory meal plan apply to children aged between 5 and 12 years.
Adult meal plan rates apply once children are aged 13 years.
