OUR Thoughts on Barefoot Kuata Island Resort, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Barefoot Kuata Island Resort is a laid-back, beachfront escape on Kuata Island—the gateway to Fiji’s Yasawas and the closest Yasawa resort to Nadi by daily ferry. Framed by dramatic volcanic ridges and a crystal-clear lagoon, the resort is enveloped by a protected marine sanctuary, established in direct partnership with traditional landowners and serving as an anchor for Barefoot’s conservation work.

The resort is famed for its reef shark encounters: snorkel alongside sharks in calm channels or join dive adventures (available even to introductory divers), all supported by resident marine biologists who share their monitoring work and ways guests can help. Between adventures, swim directly from the sand into vibrant coral gardens.

With just 23 simple beachfront bures, evenings are as relaxed as the days—filled with guitars, laughter, and the authentic Fijian ‘Bula Spirit’ that makes guests feel like family. Unpretentious, affordable, and unforgettable, it’s the perfect choice for travellers seeking a genuine Fiji experience rooted in community and conservation.

There are several accommodation options from Garden Bures to Beachfront Bures and also Dorms. The Dorms and the Kuata Bure both have shared bathroom facilities and are great for those budget conscious travellers. The Garden and Beachfront Bures have their own ensuite bathrooms and are great for couples, friends and families.
A meal plan is compulsory for every guest and includes a la carte & buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Room Categories

Kuata Dorm:
Ideal for independent travellers or friends travelling together and are on a budget. Fan cooled and close to the beach. Shared bathroom facilities with hot showers and linen is provided. Girls only dorms are also available.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 guests per dorm.
Existing Bedding: 6 Single Beds.


Tei Tei Bure:
Spacious Garden Bures, short walk to the beach. Great for families, fan cooled and has ensuite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 3 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Beds.


Beachfront Siga Bure:
Large bure with beachfront location, suitable for couples, families or friends. The bure has South Pacific sea & island views with own private beach access. Shaded private deck area, fan cooled and ensuite bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 3 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Beds.


Beachfront Levu Bure:
These Beachfront Bures are ideal for couples, honeymooners or wedding guests. Bures lead right onto the beach with stunning views of the ocean and Yasawa Islands. Outdoor tropical bathroom with elevated bath, surrounded by tall reeds for privacy.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 2 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Bed.


Beachfront Rai Ki Waya Bure:
These Beachfront Bures are ideal for couples, honeymooners or wedding guests. Bures lead right onto the beach with stunning views of the ocean and Yasawa Islands. Outdoor tropical bathroom with elevated bath, surrounded by tall reeds for privacy.
Maximum Occupancy: Up to 2 adults & 2 children.
Existing Bedding: 1 Queen Bed.
Additional Bedding: Single Sofa Bed, Cot or Bunk Bed.


Getting to and from Barefoot Kuata Island Resort
Scheduled High-Speed Catamaran Ferry:
The transit is on the “Yasawa Flyer”, a modern, air-conditioned high-speed catamaran ferry with a café on board which operates a daily schedule between Port Denarau and Barefoot Kuata Island Resort.
Non-Scheduled Helicopter Transfers:
Very popular and provided by Island Hoppers Fiji, they need to be prebooked well in advance by Our Specialists. 

 Compulsory Kids Meal Plan
Children rates apply for the compulsory meal plan apply to children aged between 5 and 12 years.
Adult meal plan rates apply once children are aged 13 years.
