TISA’S BEACH FALES
Alega Beach, Tutuila, American Samoa

“Experience American Samoa’s low impact traditional beach fales and the best hospitality and meals on Tutuila Island.

If you don’t like crowds, Tisa’s Beach Fales offer, two exclusive beach fale accommodations on this awesome private beach, ideal for a family of eight or close friends.  Wake up to sunrise; enjoy full moon, organic meals and seafood collected by the owners daily.

A unique experience!  We specialize in Samoan seafood. We usually have grilled fish and prawns or octopus and lobster dipped in burnt coconut sauce and served with local starch of breadfruit or taro and fresh local squash.  We highly recommend reservations, since everything we serve is fresh.  Our chef has also been known to whip up incredible appetizers on request.  And, of course, if you happen to catch a lobster during your guided snorkelling tour, our chef will help you reap the rewards of your hard work! ”

OUR Thoughts on Tisa’s Beach Fales
Just under 8kms from Pago Pago via scenic Route 1 and you arrive at “Barefoot Beach” the home of Tisa’s Beach Fales and the Barefoot Restaurant and Bar. Route 1 rises a little above the beach at this location and it is very easy to miss the rustic little family-run property set slightly below the roadside on the beach, so, if you are self-driving on your American Samoa holiday, keep your eyes peeled once you near Alega Village.

This place has “personality plus” with its wonderful Samoan hosts who will treat you like an honoured family guest and proudly recount the tales of ancient and modern American Samoa for those who are interested.  The bar and restaurant seems to go from quiet to full in the blink of an eye as people from Pago Pago and visitors circling the island drop in to sample the famous Tisa’s hospitality, but for guests staying in the fales, there is the very special experience of solitude both as the night comes down and at sunrise which is a magical time to enjoy the natural surroundings.

The beach here is one of the most natural beaches on Tutuila Island with powdery sand bordering a wild lagoon with many coral outcrops which makes it ideal for snorkelling - just grab a snorkel set from the end of the bar and go.  As the tides turn there can be quite a rip in the lagoon, so it’s probably best to avoid the lagoon at those times.  As well as fales, bar and restaurant, Tisa’s has a neat little boutique selling original art T shirts which are a lasting memento of a visit to this special place.

In order to fully appreciate Tisa’s, we recommend you give it at least 2 nights and to this end we have provided a 2 night package for your consideration. However, if getting back to a more natural lifestyle for a few days in an authentic Samoan beach fale is your holiday thing, don’t restrict yourself to 2 nights – Tisa’s really grows on you.

Your Accommodation Options
Both of Tisa’s Beach Fales offer a true eco-experience.  The high thatched roof keeps the heat away during the day and the mosquito nets keep the pests away at night.  The fale’s kava deck, built on stilts above the beach, provides a unique, quiet place to watch nature and marine life interact, or gaze into starry and moonlit nights, from the comfort of your bed.  Tropical showers under the stars, is one of the highlights of your eco-friendly experience at Tisa’s.
