JULY 2015
Hi Emily,
Sorry for taking so long to reply. We had a relaxing break from our routine which was the idea but the weather did not play ball, it rained the whole five days - but them's the breaks, though it appeared to be the Coral Coast that was getting the weather, Nadi and Suva were apparently better so maybe it's a winter thing on the Coral Coast, maybe worth checking for future clients.
The Warwick Fiji itself is a lovely hotel, not too big as resorts go, beautiful big and airy reception/sitting area at arrival level with the main bar on that level looking over the sea, very nice. Our room was lovely but next time we would request a room away from the main pool area though the hotel was not too busy so it was not that noisy.
Staff excellent, friendly. Our main complaint was the quality of the food which was average at best. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice but lunch was a bit limited. For dinner we ate mostly at the italian restaurant which was generally the best bet; the Grill (?) was always some kind of buffet and at F$75 per person without drinks we thought it expensive, and I'm not a fan of buffets. The japanese was absolutely awful - avoid! It was too wet and windy to go to Wicked Walu's.
So in wet weather when you were kind of trapped at the hotel the food began to pall a bit. The hotel's location is also a downside, the transfer is very long (4am start for our return flight) and if you want to get out when wet, you can't ride a bike in the rain, and a taxi to sigatoka which is half an hour away is expensive. Local buses would be the go, they seem to run every hour from outside on the main road. That said, we still enjoyed ourselves though. We chose the Warwick because it was on the mainland and had a beach and reef, and in the sun it would be magic, even with the the food.
Thanks for setting it all up for us at such short notice.
Cheers
David
