MARCH 2018

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for organising a wonderful holiday. Lau's Getaway was certainly a great place for couples with absolutely everything you need. Right down to the dolphins outside your window in the morning. Both units are fantastic. In fact the cheaper one is better!!

A few observations:
Outside the tourist season Niue appears "shut".
Everything is still available even though they often have closed signs.
I would suggest emailing to the diving or fishing charters prior to leaving  NZ (remember all are weather dependant so be prepared to be flexible with your days and be prepared for early starts.)
You will need a rental car (petrol is $2.50 a litre) and you will probably spend about $75.00 for a week.
Most things revolve around the reef with best access either side of low tide, so try to work your holiday against midday or early afternoon lows.
If you are taking children the Matavai Resort offer pools and dining and has recently been upgraded (very nice).
Be prepared you will be doing a lot of walking (good sandshoes and reef shoes) to see all the best of the island but it is really worth it!
There is a good supermarket, with a new flash one soon to be opened, with an excellent range. Prices are a bit more than NZ but not enough to make you gasp. Alcohol is much cheaper and can be purchased at Duty Free prices at the bond shop for the first thtree days of your stay (take your boarding pass)
Dining out is about the same as NZ as are the diving and fishing charters.
Make sure to take the orientation tour on the second day.
There is still some confusion about a departure tax which is included in most ticket prices. However until the end of June it would pay to carry something that showed the date you purchased your ticket as it was causing some confusion at the airport.

All and all a very relaxed place to visit for those wanting a very different holiday.  BUT please Niue does not provide beaches.

Finally thanks again Lesley for your efforts.

We look foward to using you to plan our next Our Pacific holiday.
