Our Thoughts on Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa
This place impresses from the moment you arrive. The architecture fits Easter Island like a glove and cleverly reflects many of the unique features of this wonderfully different Pacific Island and its Rapa Nui culture. The buildings have rounded sides, flattish roofs (some with living plant cover) and are single storied channelling the original stone houses of the Rapa Nui people. The swimming pool complex in the centre of the resort appears to us to be based on the magnificent round volcano crater in the Orongo with its lakes and green areas. The lounges, bars and restaurants are simply superb with their large curving galleries to take in the sea views and the strategically placed stained natural Cyprus logs holding up the roof seem to represent the stone Moai statues for which this remarkable island is world-famous. Coming from Tahiti you will be staying at least 6 nights and Hotel Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa is the ideal base from which to explore Easter Island. This hotel is one remarkable complex!
The hotel is located only a short walk from the town and its good range of restaurants, cafés boutiques and other accommodation places. Staying at Hotel Hangaroa Eco Village you are within hiking distance of several of Easter Island’s natural features. However, we recommend you take an organised tour with a local guide on your first or second day to get an appreciation of what Easter Island has to offer, then take your own time to revisit and explore those features you can’t access on foot, either by bicycle (which you can hire in town) or by rental car which can be pre-arranged.

Your Accommodation Options
Within their 75 rooms Hangaroa Eco Village offers 2 accommodation options – their Kainga Rooms and their Ma’unga Suites. All are located in singe storey blocks scattered throughout the extensive resort grounds, each with an ocean view. All are tastefully decorated in a modern, muted colour scheme and each one follows through the “Rapa Nui” theme established in the public areas, although in the rooms and suites the Cyprus log features are bleached/painted to fit in with the modern interior décor.

Room Categories
Kainga Rooms:
Between 45 and 49m2 the Kainga Rooms are spacious and feature amazing bathrooms, each with a separate shower and bath. The hand-crafted clay bath is situated between the bedroom and the bathroom so bathers may take in the view. There is a blind which can be let down to provide privacy when required.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults and 1 Child aged up to 12 years.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Single Beds and a single Sofa Bed
Additional Bedding: 1 cot for an infant aged up to 2 years can be added.
Ma’unga Suites:
The 6 magnificent Ma’unga Suites are 74 to 78 m2 with double-height curved ceilings. The suites provide occupants with a large open-plan space for sleeping/living and a huge bathroom.
Maximum Occupancy: 2 Adults and 1 Child aged up to 12 years.
Existing Bedding: 1 King Bed or 2 Single Beds and a single Sofa Bed
Additional Bedding: 1 cot for an infant aged up to 2 years can be added.
Getting To and From Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa
Mataveri Airport on Easter Island is located virtually right beside the town, around 1 km from Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa. Return airport transfers are included in a stay at this hotel.
It is an easy walk from the hotel into the town.
Kids’ Policy

Infants stay Free
Infants aged up to 2 years stay free of charge when sharing with adults.

The weekly flight from Papeete, Tahiti arrives at 11:50am on a Tuesday and departs at 11:05pm on Monday. Early check-in and late check-out may be requested and charges apply.
Reservation/Cancellation Policy
Prepayment Policy
50% of the room rate must be deposited in order to confirm a reservation. The balance (50%) must be paid 30 days before arrival to the hotel.
Payment in full will be required at the time of reservations made between 30 and 0 days prior to the guest’s arrival.
Cancellation Policy
- All cancellations must be made in writing.
Below are the penalties applicable, depending on the date of the cancellation receipt request:
- 47 days or more prior to arrival date – No charge.
- 46 to 30 days prior to the arrival date – 30% of the total reservation
- 29 to 10 days before the arrival date – 50% of the total reservation
- 09 to 0 days before the arrival date and no shows – 100% of the total reservation
