OUR Thoughts on Ranginui’s Sunset, Aitutaki
A delightfully different little budget property, ideal for those seeking a simpler style of accommodation experience on delightful Aitutaki. The location is close to the northern tip of the island facing north-west ever the outer lagoon with the circling reef and ocean beyond.  Staying here you will be approximately halfway between the main township Arutanga and the various resorts dotted along the road between Ranginui’s Sunset and the town and the other main tourist area around Ootu Beach and island peninsular. 

The beach at this point of the coast outside Ranginui’s Sunset is pearly white and mainly deserted.  Guests at Ranginui’s Sunset enjoy the filtered view of the outer lagoon, the ocean and the beach through the beachfront palms and the beach sand comes right up to your balcony steps.  Even though you will enjoy the relative isolation from the crowds this property offers, you are not alone, as the owner/managers of the property live right next door and are always available for friendship, advice and assistance.  Furthermore, the sister property down at Ootu – Ranginui’s Retreat, welcomes guests to use their facilities anytime, including their swimming pool.   

Nothing on Aitutaki is too far away from Ranginui’s Sunset, but we do advise you (as we do when staying at most Aitutaki resorts and properties) to have pre-arranged transport to guarantee the best holiday ever on Aitutaki. A scooter-bike is a popular choice for locals and visitors and enables you to get around cheaply and comfortably vising the sights and shops during the day as well as providing you with a light at night when returning from a café or restaurant.

Your Accommodation Options
Ranginui’s Sunset offers 3 clean and simple accommodation units.  Each is a stand-alone bungalow featuring a pleasant little roofed balcony deck raised up 3 steps from the sand to allow cooling breezes to circulate beneath. Each balcony has 2 steamer chair-style sun loungers facing the sunsets.  The bungalows are built in a row beside each other and screens on each balcony ensure privacy. There isn’t a huge difference in tariff between the two styles, but the two more expensive One Bedroom Bungalows do offer a better living experience, being equipped with a standing fridge/freezer in the kitchenette, a separate bedroom and a bigger lounge seating area with TV.  All three bungalows are fan cooled but a portable air-conditioning unit can be hired at reasonable charge, although the need for air-conditioning is mainly during the heat of the summer season December through March and then, mainly for periods when the sea breezes are not providing sufficient cooling.

The Studio has an undercounter-style fridge.

One Bedroom Bungalows:
The 2 One Bedroom Bungalows offer a spacious living area and a separate bedroom off the back of the unit. Total of 51m²
One Bedroom Bungalows provide a standing fridge/freezer and a TV in the lounge area.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 Adults or 2 Adults and 1 Child
Existing Bedding: 1 Split King Bed and 1 Single Bed
Additional Bedding: No additional bedding or cot accommodated

Getting to and from Ranginui’s Sunset, Aitutaki
A complimentary arrival and departure airport transfers is included in all stays at Ranginui’s Sunset, Aitutaki.
The property is located in a quiet area of Aitutaki, a 2-minute drive from the airport, 12-minute drive from Arutanga Village. Rumours Café is a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk away, Boat Shed Bar & Grill is a 5-minute drive, Blue Lagoon Restaurant a 6-minute drive and Tamanu Restaurant a 7-minute drive.

We thoroughly recommend you have us organise rental transportation for you while you are on beautiful Aitutaki – options include bicycles, motor scooters or a small car.  It is possible to have the owner/manager organise a vehicle for you once you arrive at Ranginui’s, but you would be wise to prebook your transportation in advance via OUR Travel Specialists to avoid disappointment in the event your chosen type of vehicle is not available once you arrive.

Early Check-in and Late Check-out
Early check-in from 6:00am and late check-out between 6:00pm are subject to availability and are charged at a flat fee.
To guarantee immediate access to rooms when arriving prior to 8:00am, accommodation should be booked and paid for the night prior to arrival.
To guarantee a late check-out after 6:00pm, accommodation should be reserved for an additional night.
