LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Each Pacific Island has different rules and regulations for getting married. Below we have summarised these requirements, applicable to New Zealand citizens. In some countries a signed form is required and your Our Pacific Specialist will notify & supply you with this.

 FIJI
The legal age to wed in Fiji is 18years.
An application for a Marriage License must be made in person to the nearest Registrar Office or District Court in Fiji at least 3 working days prior to the Marriage. 
Please note, weddings may not be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - Original Birth Certificates
 - Valid Passports
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)

 RAROTONGA & AITUTAKI
The legal age to wed in the Cook Islands is 20years.
An application for a Marriage License must be made in person to the nearest Registrar of Marriages Office in Rarotonga at least 3 working days prior to the Marriage. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm.
Please note, weddings may not be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - Original Birth Certificates
 - Valid Passports
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)

 SAMOA
A Notice of Intended Marriage must be completed and sent via fax or post to the Ministry of Justice, or delivered in person at least 14 days prior to the Marriage. A minimum stay of 3 days prior to the Marriage is recommended.
Please note, weddings may not be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - Copy of Birth Certificates
 - A letter from the marriage office or authority from the area of permanent residence verifying the couple have never been married
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)

 VANUATU
The legal age to wed in Vanuatu is 16years for females & 18years for males (witnesses must be over 21years of age).
An Intended Marriage Form must be lodged with the Vanuatu Government at least 28 days prior to the Marriage.
The Wedding Couple will need to be in Vanuatu together for at least 3 working days prior to the Marriage.
Please note, weddings may not be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - Copy of Birth Certificates
 - Valid Passports
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)

 NIUE
The legal age to wed in Niue is 16years for females & 18years for males (witnesses must be over 21years of age).
A Notice of Intended Marriage Form must be given to the Marriage Officer prior to the Marriage.

The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - Original Birth Certificates
 - Valid Passports
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)

 TAHITI, FRENCH POLYNESIA
The legal age to wed in French Polynesia is 18years.
Both spouses must not already be married in France or Overseas, be of French nationality, be of the same sex or have a relationship in direct lineage. An application for a Marriage of Foreigners in French Polynesia must be completed and sent to the Mayor in the area of which you intend to be wed, at least one month and 10 days prior to the Marriage. The Marriage will be carried out at the Mairie (town hall) by the Mayor (or its representative) in the area of which you intend to be wed. The ceremony will be held in public, the doors to the town hall remaining open at all times. Please note, weddings may not be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
The Wedding Couple will need to provide the following:
 - A letter signed & dated by both future spouses, addressed to the Mayor of the area chosen for the marriage
 - The Marriage of Foreigners in French Polynesia form, duly filled
 - Valid Passports
 - Copy of Birth Certificates
 - Proof of residence (ie. electricity or telephone invoice)
 - Divorce Papers (if applicable)
 - Death Certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)
 - Marriage contract or Notary Certificate that has been authenticated (if applicable)
 - Customary, celibacy, or capacity to be legally married certifiate that has been authenticated (if applicable)
 - Certificate of Publication and Non Opposition to Marriage, issued by a French Consulate or Foreign Authority
