LE LAGOTO RESORT Fagamalo, Savaii, Samoa
"Talofa Lava... and a Warm Welcome to Le Lagoto Resort.
Located on a secluded white, sandy beach fringed by coconut palms and crystal clear waters, we are a boutique resort which offers all the modern conveniences of a large resort in an intimate, idyllic setting.
We're the ultimate one-stop relaxation spot, where you can while away the hours soaking up the sun and tropical views, or refresh your body and soul in our brand new infinity pool. Let the sand tickle your feet as you stroll along the powdery soft beach just a stone's throw away, then get our friendly staff to treat you to a thirst quenching cocktail, or treat your palate with our scrumptious restaurant fare. At night, fall asleep to the sound of palms swaying in the breeze in your Samoan-style fale.
It is with good reason (and much pride) that we call ourselves Le Lagoto – Samoan for 'sunsets'. Our sunsets are simply sensational. What makes them even more special is because Samoa is situated at the most western point in the world, just east of the International dateline, which makes us the last place on earth to farewell the sun each day!
Our beach fales were designed Samoan style, to create an authentic holiday haven, just for you. We’ve also added some contemporary touches to make your stay with us ultimately comfortable and relaxing. Each fale has a private patio with sea views, is nestled into lush tropical gardens and faces west – that way you’re guaranteed a perfect view of our world-famous sunsets."
Our Thoughts on Le Lagoto Resort A quality little resort with a surprising range of services and facilities in what is a fairly remote location. The beach, which is off to one side of the bungalows, is beautiful and the lagoon out front is perfect for swimming at any phase of the tide. Le Lagoto has a lovely horizon pool which you hardly ever have to share – the lagoon swimming is so good!
All the resort buildings are like a work of art – a pleasant fusion of traditional Samoan architecture and modern facilities. The big open-style restaurant fale has a wide deck out front which is a perfect spot to take in the spectacular sunsets, the separate resort bar provides a special view out over the horizon pool to the lagoon beyond and the “Sunsets Spa”, while providing privacy for treatments, is almost on the beach.
Le Lagoto is something of a “personality resort”. It isn’t unusual to find individual staff members providing all sorts of different services to guests, everything from mixing cocktails to taking guided tours of Savaii. With only 11 accommodation units it is usual for staff to remember your name.
The resort has a 2 night minimum stay policy, but, in our opinion 2 nights is not nearly long enough to really get the most out of Le Lagoto. To entice guests to stay a little longer Le Lagoto offers guests who stay 4 nights or longer, one free night accommodation. This offer is valid year round except during June, July and August and is subject to change at any time.
Le Lagoto is a romantic spot for a honeymoon and they also specialise in weddings and will happily arrange a very special wedding even if the wedding party only includes a bride and groom. Of course, arrangements for bigger weddings are also available.
Room rates include daily tropical breakfast, one 15 minute massage per room and complimentary use of water sport kayaks.
A meal plan is available and the resort’s Vailili Restaurant serves great food. There is a Pizza shop just across the road which will deliver direct to your fale and Savaii Lagoon Resort’s restaurant is just along the beach. A local convenience store and a Padi Dive shop complete the off-resort facilities.
Your Accommodation Options Le Lagoto accommodation is predominantly individual high quality Samoan-style fales although there is one two-bedroom Beach House Apartment as well. All of the same design and high standard, the 10 Fales are in two rows with 5 fales in each row. The five in the front row are designated Beachfront Bungalows and the five in the row behind are known as Oceanview Bungalows. The Beachfront Bungalows have unobstructed views of the lagoon from their patio verandas The Oceanview Bungalows are staggered behind so as to have good lagoon views between the Beachfront Bungalows. The first impression of the bungalows is that they appear close together, however, due to the thoughtful way they have been designed, the perceived closeness just isn’t a problem for occupants.
Immediately in front of the fales there is a natural rock wall which leads directly to the lagoon. A wooden stairway with around 20 steps allows guests comfortable access to the lagoon. The beach runs off the side of this rock wall in front of the pool, restaurant and spa.
Like the lobby, restaurant and bar, the accommodation bungalows are works of art. Each one is a traditional oval shape with high, native timber lined ceilings and exposed natural beams which have been tied together in the way Samoan fales have been built for decades. The walls are also native timber lined and the wooden floor is covered with finely woven local mats. The fales have timber slate roofs. Each one has a covered veranda out front. There is a modern ensuite bathroom. All fales are spacious and air-conditioned, although for most of the year, the open-plan nature of the room and the louvre windows provide natural cooling.
