“Namukulu Cottages & Spa is situated in totally tranquil tropical surroundings where you can just relax and let your mind wander. We want to provide you with a relaxing and peaceful environment, and therefore do not accept children aged less than 10 years.
Relax on the private deck of your one or two bedroom cottage. Enjoy a drink while watching the spectacular sunsets, pamper yourself by making a visit to our Day Spa, go to our lookout point and watch the whales go by, or just lounge by the pool.
If you have a sense of adventure you can visit some of the islands favourite swimming/snorkelling spots and caves/chasms which are all within close proximity to us. These include Matapa Chasm, Talava Arches, Limu Pools, Hio Beach, Palaha Cave and Avaiki Cave.
Namukulu Cottages & Spa is about 10km north of the main town of Alofi on the sheltered west-side of the island near the coast. The airport is about 12km away and is a very pleasant drive through a number of small villages and plenty of tropical forests. The roads are sealed and offer a comfortable drive.”
Our Thoughts on Namukulu Cottages & Spa
This is a wonderful location for a holiday in Niue. It’s around 10 kms from Alofi, where the majority of restaurants and the main grocery shop is located, so once you start to explore you will need to rent either a car or a small motorbike (we are happy to pre-book a vehicle for you). From Namukulu Cottages & Spa it is an easy 2/3 minute walk down to Hio Beach which is accessed by a wooden staircase from the roadside. Hio is a lovely little cove which, at low tide, can offer a rare opportunity on Niue – the chance to stretch out on a small sand beach. Just a 10 minute walk away from Namukulu Cottages you will find the beautiful Limu Pools – a natural rock-formed swimming pool with the clearest water you will ever see. Limu is a wonderful spot for snorkelling and swimming. Namukulu Cottages have mountain bikes available for guests’ use and these are a great way to get to the other interesting natural beauty spots around this end of the island.
The cottages themselves are located around 500 metres away from the cliff-side on the edge of the low central plateau and from the property there are spectacular views out over the tropical forest to the sea beyond. Sunsets can be spectacular from here and whales can often be seen during the whale migration season.
Namukulu’s Spa is the only spa on Niue and the spa prices are very reasonable indeed. If you have never tried a spa treatment, Niue is a wonderfully comfortable and non-threatening place to try this enjoyable experience. There is a chlorine-free, freshwater swimming pool specially sited for secluded swimming and relaxing. The pool has a shade sail offering sun protection.
For the complementary use of all guests there is a small library, wireless internet access to all Cottages, golf clubs, snorkelling equipment (mask and snorkel only) and mountain bikes. Airport transfers are included in the tariff and all arriving guests are provided with a breakfast starter pack.
Your Accommodation Options
Namukulu Cottages & Spa has 4 fabulous self-contained/self catering style Cottages of superior quality; all featuring their own covered decks facing the sunset and the panoramic views over a gently sloping lawn and tropical gardens.
 1 Bedroom Cottages
The three 1 bedroom cottages have cool ceramic tiled floors which fit well with the natural timber walls and the light-coloured sloping ceilings. There is a separate bedroom and a nice open plan kitchen/dining/living area opening out to your private covered deck which comes complete with an outdoor dining setting. Both the bedroom and the living areas have ceiling fans and the insect-screened louvre windows provide excellent flow-through cooling. The kitchenette is equipped with a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave and a 2 burner gas cook-top. The living area has a couch which converts to a Queen double bed if required. There is a complementary self-use shared laundry facility and washing powder is provided. All cottages are provided with a TV, clock radios, independent solar hot water systems, clothes line and gas BBQ on the deck.
Maximum Occupancy: 4 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 Queen in the bedroom and a couch in the living area converts to a double bed.
2 Bedroom Cottage
Similar to the 1 bedroom cottages in décor, only bigger, the 2 bedroom cottage is very spacious and can accommodate up to 6 people. The large kitchen consists of a 4 burner gas cook-top, full size refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, etc. A covered deck extends the complete length of the front of the cottage and is accessed by doors off the lounge and the main bedroom. From the living area, the main bedroom and the deck, guests enjoy views over the pool, the lawn and the forest to the sea beyond. The dining/lounge has a 6 seater dining room table, couch, 2 lounge chairs and a coffee table. There is also an outdoor dining setting on the deck which comprises a table and 6 chairs. The single bathroom incorporates a clothes washer and comes stocked with washing powder. All rooms, including the bathroom have ceiling fans.
Maximum Occupancy: 6 Persons
Existing Bedding Configuration: 1 Queen double bed in the main bedroom, there are 2 single beds in the second bedroom and the couch in the lounge can be converted to a Queen double bed.

Arrival and departure airport transfers are included.
Kids’ Policy
Children aged 10 years and over are accepted at Namukuku Cottages.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing.
If cancellations are effected within 14 days of scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee equal to three night’s accommodation will be levied.
If cancellations are effected within 7 days of scheduled arrival including no shows, a cancellation fee equal to100% of total stay will be levied.
