PLANTATION ISLAND RESORT Malolo Lailai Island, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji
"Plantation Island can offer you total relaxation of a wide range of leisure activities and cultural excursions. Relax around the pools or swim in the beautiful water lagoon, take part in featured activities or a sip a cocktail at one of the many bars while you watch the sunset and take all the time you need to discover the magic of Plantation Island Resort. Located on Malolo Lailai Island, part of the Mamanuca group of islands, Plantation utilises 23acres of tropical landscaped gardens and coconut palms and has 7km of white sandy beaches. From luxury hotel rooms to lavish traditional Fijian bures, Plantation Island Resort is perfect for couples, families with children and groups."
Our thoughts on Plantation Island Resort From the moment you arrive at Plantation you can't help but notice two things; firstly the amount of holiday activity going on around the jetty and beach, and secondly, the fact that everyone is having a great time! Some years ago holidaymakers mainly arrived by air and were taken to Reception in the middle of the Resort. Reception is still in the same place although now the flights have dwindled to a trickle and you arrive at the opposite end of the Resort off the "Malolo Cat" - a fast catamaran service from Port Denarau Marina on the mainland. The staff meet you at the jetty singing a welcome song before escorting you to Reception. Plantation Island Resort is a difficult place to categorise in as much that it has an enormous range of accommodation types, some of which is probably ranked at a good 3.5 star while other accommodation certainly ranks 4 stars, but no matter what grade you choose, you can be assured that it is comfortable, clean and well serviced. Plantation is a real "sand between the toes" kind of place. There is an extensive range of activities and facilities but it is the totally relaxed and relaxing atmosphere that soon draws you into holiday mode. In some ways it feels a lot like recapturing the feeling of going to a small beach community (complete with corner store and pub) for a summer holiday with your family when you were a kid. Then add the swimming pools (one is adults only), the restaurants, the golf, the kids club, tennis court, watersports and so on. No wonder they have such a high rate of repeat customers.
Your Room & Bure Options Plantation is quite big, as far as Fiji Island Resorts go and it has an impressive range of accommodation options. One of these many options is bound to suit your requirements. The main feature of rooms and bures at Plantation is that they have plenty of room. Casual comfort is a feature of the accommodation at Plantation. Many rooms and bures have space for a couple of fat, comfortable divans as well as a couple of chairs and a small table and a fridge. All accommodation is air-conditioned.
The Resort originally comprised a main two storey hotel-style block next to the central facility and several bures scattered around on either side of the main building. The resort has grown over the years but everything still radiates out from the original (now modernized and up-graded) hotel block next to the Reception and Lobby.
