Our Thoughts on Iririki Island Resort
Iririki Island is shaped like an inverted water droplet with the head facing Port Vila town and the long, tapered tail pointing towards the cruise ship berth across the bay. The cruise ships take a semi-circle route around Iririki Island Resort and are so close you can clearly see the passengers and hear the on-board announcements as the ships glide past!
Iririki really is a fabulous location for a holiday resort. Back in the colonial days when Great Britain and France jointly administered the country which was then known as The New Hebrides, the British half of the government was based on Iririki Island and the French were based on the “mainland”. The British High Commissioner could gaze over the 300 metres which separate the island from the town and keep tabs on what was going on from his residence on top of the island. These days Iririki Island Resort & Spa is scattered beautifully around the whole island (although there is still plenty of open space left), so guests enjoy the relaxing tropical island atmosphere, but can go to town by 24 hour ferry for a change of pace anytime they choose to.
The 4 restaurants and bars on Iririki are of a high standard. Mitcheners which overlooks Port Vila is a great favourite of ours for dinner but they’re all good. We’ve enjoyed many an evening at Mitcheners dining on great food while overlooking Port Vila Bay and the lights of Port Vila Town while the Iririki Ferry shuttles to and fro. Guests at Iririki enjoy 24 hour room service as well as having 24 hour access to the town restaurants, bars and nightclubs via the complimentary ferry any time you feel like a change of scenery. For those who choose to stay in the Apartments and Penthouse Suites with the self-catering option, there is are 2 very good French-style supermarkets very handy to the Iririki town wharf which offer a full range of supplies – it’s fun finding your way around them too!

Your Accommodation Options
Look to the right as you arrive at the jetty and you will note the original rooms at Iririki Island Resort; the “Fares” which are located on the northern end of the island either facing Port Vila Town or the hilly suburb of Malapoa further around Port Vila Bay.
Immediately past the Fares and resort restaurants on the north-western tip of the island there are 2 three-storey blocks of modern Oceanview Apartments and Penthouses which were originally known as Snorkelers’ Cove and now carry the names of the Banyan Wing and the Sunset Wing.
Walk to the left of the arrival jetty and the Resort Reception and you will find the Watermark Restaurant and the beach while further along to the left you come to 2 blocks of Deluxe Pool View Apartments known as the Lagoon Wings which overlook a beautiful 4 level pool.
Around “the back” of the island facing west towards the residential-only Ifira Island, the sunsets and the entrance to Port Vila Harbour, there are 4 more blocks of Deluxe Oceanview Apartments and Penthouses known as the Tam Tam and Coral Wings then move up a small rise and you arrive back at the Sunset Wing and the Fares.
Island Fares Garden View & Island Fares
The least expensive room option at Iririki, the Island Fares Garden View are those Fares that are in the raised garden area, all have a leafy outlook and some enjoy a peep of the harbour.
The Island Fares are scattered around the tropical gardens each side of the so-called Leisure Area 1 which includes the Resort Office, Mitcheners Restaurant, the Bali Hai Café and Bar, the horizon pool and the Massage/Spa Fare. The Island Fares are mainly located behind the Waterfront Fares and many have a filtered view to the harbour.

Waterfront Fares
Waterfront Fares which are either those accessed directly from the land but built over the harbour close to the ferry wharf or those perched on the cliff front on the other side of the main Reception and Leisure Area 1. Both these locations afford spectacular views. The 11 “overwater” Waterfront Fares afford guests an ever-changing view of bustling Port Vila Harbour during the day. There can be a little harbour noise from the transfer ferry coming and going, but, in our experience that is not particularly intrusive. Guests occupying the cliff-top Waterfront Fales have the added colour of the commuter longboats passing below, which run between the town and Ifira Island during the day.

Deluxe Pool View Apartments
Two-storey blocks of spacious open-plan apartments, all with large balconies or patios facing inward towards the four-level pool complex. Each balcony or patio houses a romantic spa bath and outdoor table setting. These apartments are modern and light with ceramic-tiled floors and a modern kitchenette which includes a microwave oven, sink, under-counter fridge, dishwasher and 2-burner hob as well as plenty of cupboard space. The Deluxe Pool View Apartments are on the southern end of the island in the Lagoon Wings and furthest away from the original resort, but very handy to the Watermark Restaurant, the beach activities area and almost a part of Iririki’s Leisure Area 2, which includes the Gymnasium, Tennis Courts, Games Room, Children’s Playground, the Sunset Bar and Café and a great little swim-up Bar.
Room facilities include - Lounge and dining setting - Movies on demand - Broadband Internet - Air conditioning and ceiling fans – Kitchenette - Dishwasher - Laundry facilities - Walk in robe with mini safe - En-suite bathroom with shower (no bathtub) - Private balcony with spa tub - Large screen plasma TV with Satellite TV and CD player. Access to the upper floor is via stairs.
Existing Bedding is 1 King double bed which can be split into 2 single beds and 1 sofa which converts to a fold-out double bed. Additional bedding comprising 1 (maximum) rollaway single bed can be added. A baby cot can also be added.

Deluxe Oceanview Apartments
Deluxe Oceanview Apartments are located in six, two and three storey blocks on the north-west and western sides of Iririki Island, starting with the Banyan Wing and Sunset Wings (previously known as Snorkelers Cove) which are closest to the original Fares, then the west facing Coral Wing and 3 Tam Tam Wings which are closer to all the facilities of Leisure Area 2 (tennis courts, gymnasium etc). Similar in most respects to the Deluxe Pool View Apartments, but they feel a little bigger in total area, the Deluxe Oceanview Apartments afford guests lovely views of the outer harbour, Ifira Island and the port where the cruise ships berth. Being mainly west facing means guests in these Apartments enjoy stunning sunsets.

Penthouse Suites and Penthouses:
The beautiful Penthouse Suites comprise 2 levels of very high standard holiday living. For 2 couples sharing or for family stays, the separate ground floor Deluxe Oceanview apartment (see description above) can be incorporated to provide a 110 square metres 3 level Penthouse with private entrance to all 3 floors.
Each 3 storey penthouse block comprises a ground floor self-contained Deluxe Oceanview Apartment, a second floor lounge/living room and a third floor Master Bedroom, all accessed by a private stairwell which opens on to each floor and accessed from a front door on the ground level. If configured as a 2 level Penthouse Suite, the ground floor apartment is accessed from a different front door on the ground level and this provides private entry by stairs to the second floor lounge/living and the third floor Master Bedroom. In addition to full buffet breakfast, guests in Penthouse Suites receive a bottle of Iririki Sparkling Wine.
The ground floor can be either a normal Deluxe Oceanview Apartment or intergrated, converting a Penthouse Suite into a full Penthouse. The second floor is a lounge/living only although one of the sofas can be converted into a double bed if required. This level has a separate bathroom (shower only) and a kitchen. The third floor mezzanine area contains a Queen-size bed as well as a nice big Sitting Room and a big ensuite bathroom with both shower and bathtub. In addition to full buffet breakfast guests in full Penthouses paying the normal tariff receive a bottle of Iririki Sparkling Wine and a fruit basket in the room on arrival.

Penthouse facilities include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, full kitchen including dishwasher, microwave & fridge, a washing machine & dryer, ensuite bathroom, walk in wardrobe, satellite flat screen television with Australian and French TV channels & videos on demand, stereo, DVD player, a private balcony with a large spa tub overlooking the ocean.
Existing Bedding – 2 level Penthouse Suites have a Queen-size bed in the 3rd floor mezzanine bedroom and a double bed-size fold-out sofa bed in the second floor lounge/living. One single rollaway bed can be added to the second floor lounge/living room.
Maximum Occupancy is 5 people with a maximum of 3 adults and 2 children or 2 adults and 3 children.
When configured as a full, 3 level Penthouse, the existing bedding is – ground floor, 1 King-size bed which can be split to 2 single beds and 1 fold-out sofa bed which converts to a double bed. The second and third floors are configured the same as for the 2 level Penthouse Suites.
Maximum Occupancy for the 3 level full Penthouses is 6 people (adults and children) with a maximum of 4 children.
Getting To and From Iririki Island Resort
Our Specialists will include return airport transfers in your package arrangements.
These transfers include a bus transfer between Bauerfield Airport and the Iririki Lounge on the mainland and the 24 hour ferry between the mainland and the island. The short ferry ride is available on a complimentary basis on demand 24 hours a day for Iririki Island Resort guests.

A maximum of two children aged 13 years and under stay free when sharing existing bed with their parents. A child-minding service is available on a request basis. A complimentary cot is available on request.
