Samade on the Beach is situated on the gorgeous white sands of Ootu (meaning full-moon) Beach on the south eastern point of Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. Ootu Beach fronts the turquoise Aitutaki Lagoon and is one of the best swimming locations on the island. The lagoon directly off our beach has a soft sandy bottom with both deep and shallow waters.
Samade offers 12 stand-alone Garden Bungalows which are just a few steps away from the prestigious Aitutaki Lagoon and our Polynesian styled beach Bar and Restaurant. Our restaurant opens daily for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. An event not to be missed is the all day Sunday BBQ in our sand-floor restaurant. Feasting on marinated local herb chicken, freshly caught fish and crispy organic salads while being serenaded to the harmonious beats of our local talent – that’s what makes the all day Sunday BBQ so famous.

Ootu Beach, which is the landing point of Aitutaki’s first ancestor Chief Ru, is also the launching point for some of the lagoon’s local tours that go out to the offshore motus (little islets) daily for the best snorkelling, turtle watching and island hopping adventures.
If you prefer to experience the lagoon’s beauty all on your own, you can take our complimentary kayaks on a trip to the nearby motus, have a beach all to yourself with a packed lunch which can be arranged by the ladies in our restaurant.

Our Thoughts on Samade on the Beach
Aitutaki’s magnificent inner lagoon is roughly triangular in shape. The main island forms the top left-hand side of the triangle and also extends in a narrow promontory from the peak of the triangle (where the airport is located), some distance down the right-hand side before breaking up into the myriad smaller lagoon islands which form the huge Aitutaki Lagoon. Samade on the Beach is on a beautiful inner lagoon-facing beach located on “the mainland” just before the big island breaks into the small reef-fringing islands. This means Samade guests are sheltered from the prevailing winds while enjoying an excellent beachfront site with spectacular views of the Aitutaki Lagoon and the superb island sunsets from the beach-front hotel restaurant.
Samade on the Beach is a mid-range property which is well-known for its ‘sand-between-the-toes’ relaxed atmosphere and the genuine local Aitutaki welcome experienced by its guests. There are very few mid-range resorts with a good beach located on the inner lagoon on Aitutaki, this is one of them.
Your Accommodation Options
When staying at Samade on the Beach, you realise just how apt the name really is. The front of the sand-floor restaurant and bar is virtually on the beach. The 12 stand-alone bungalows which are in two rows of 6 extend back inland from the beach. The bungalows are set each side of a central tropical garden and each bungalow has a veranda/patio which faces inward towards the central garden. Guests in first two Garden Bungalows get a peep of the lagoon from the veranda. All bungalows are exactly the same layout. All have air-conditioning and a ceiling fan as well as being set up 3 or 4 steps above the sand to aid cooling. The bungalows have a relaxing ‘timber cabin’ feel about them with wood floors, walls and peaked ceilings. There is a fridge, kettle and tea/coffee making facility as well as a hairdryer in the ensuite bathroom. The whole bungalow is well screened against insects; indeed, you rarely see an insect which is remarkable for a bungalow built in a tropical garden right on the beach.

Getting to and from Samade On The Beach
A domestic flight from Rarotonga to Aitutaki is required.
We will provide a vehicle arrival/departure transfer from/to Aitutaki Airport to Samade On The Beach.
Kids Policy
Children 3-11years are not permitted.
Infants 0-2years of age are permitted.

The hotel will make every effort to ensure your rooms are available at your time of check-in; however, the Hotel standard times and rates are as follows:
Check In Time: 12.00pm
Check Out Time: 10.00am
Cancellation Policy
 All cancellations must be made in writing.
If cancellations are effected between 30 and 15 days of scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee equal to one night’s accommodation will be levied.
If cancellations are effected within 14 days of scheduled arrival including no shows, a cancellation fee equal to two night’s accommodation will be levied.
