PACIFIC RESORT AITUTAKI Aitutaki, Cook Islands
“Like a siren of the Pacific, Aitutaki seduces you. Situated on a triangle-shaped atoll rising four thousand metres from the floor of the Pacific Ocean, Pacific Resort Aitutaki is the “World's Leading Boutique Island Resort” (World Travel Awards 2008, 2009 & 2010) and the Cook Islands only member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.
Here you will discover an enclave of romance, refinement and luxury that beckons to even the most discerning traveller. Pacific Resort Aitutaki is limited to just 27 luxurious absolute beachfront bungalows, suites and villas, all with their own personal, panoramic view of Aitutaki’s world-famous lagoon and where each sunset majestically colours the ocean beyond.”
Our Thoughts on Pacific Resort Aitutaki Many years ago, when Cook Islands tourism was in its infancy, a very modest, government-owned hotel was built on Aitutaki. With a full choice of all locations on this picture-perfect island, the Rapae Hotel was built on the best site available. After seeing service for some considerable time, the old Rapae Hotel was ultimately removed and now the Pacific Resort Aitutaki occupies an area which takes in much of that wonderful site. The name of the original hotel lives on at Pacific Resort Aitutaki in the resort’s signature “Rapae Bay Restaurant”.
What makes the site of Pacific Resort Aitutaki so special is the location on a small, west-facing promontory which marks the turning point of the kilometres long beach which ends at the northern point of the island in one direction near the airport and at the town of Arutanga, an equal distance in the other direction. With half the beachfront bungalows on each side of the point, guests have the option of a bungalow facing the wide beach on one side of the point or a bungalow on the other side of the point with a narrower beach and the lagoon only a few steps away. From every part of the resort, the view of the lagoon with the reef and the ocean beyond and the sunset over the lagoon is breathtaking.
Pacific Resort Aitutaki self-rates at 5 Star. The Resort continues to win international awards year after year and once you experience Pacific Resort Aitutaki, it is easy to see why. The experience starts the minute you enter the terminal at Aitutaki Airport where Pacific Resort Aitutaki guests are shown to a private meeting area and welcomed by Resort Staff. A short, 10 minute drive later guests enter the Resort’s beautiful entrance lobby and what a relaxing space this is with its water features, its Polynesian style and it relaxed luxurious ambience.
There are 2 restaurants – The Rapae Bay and the Black Rock Café and Bar, gift shops, a spa and a magical horizon swimming pool; and all this servicing only 27 bungalows and villas. We know that most people visiting Aitutaki arrive with the intention of enjoying dinners at the many restaurants and cafes on the island, but we also know that many guests at Pacific Resort Aitutaki never actually dine outside the Resort. The dining experience at the Resort’s Rapae Bay Restaurant, or on their bungalow’s private veranda, or in a private, romantic Bedouin-style beach tent at sunset is so completely satisfying that, somehow, plans for dining out seem to get forgotten.
Pacific Resort Aitutaki includes full a la carte cooked breakfasts at the Rapae Bay Restaurant in their tariff. In addition guests have complimentary use of single and double kayaks, snorkelling gear, beach towels and sun-loungers. Pacific Resort Aitutaki rewards those who stay more than 2 nights with a $50 per room resort food and beverage credit per night for the whole stay. In addition guests staying 7 nights receive the seventh night free of charge. Kindly note that from time to time, the Resort may offer short-term specials which may not necessarily include the special inclusions mentioned above.
